Dual Spec Feature ConcernFollow

Do you guys think that Dual Speccing is going to lead to less call for mages and possibly warlocks? I'm concerned because I'm thinkinng about it as if I were a raid or guild leader. If I bring a mage I will get some good DPS. If I bring a shaman or a druid I will have DPS with the option to have them quickly switch to a healer on in the case of a Druid, quickly switch to tank as well.

This very reason is why the DPS breakdown is supposed to place Rogues, Mages, Warlocks, and Hunters at the top of the charts. If you play right and there isn't a huge gap in the gear department than this should be happening regardless.

Throw in the fact that Mages, Warlocks, and Hunters are all ranged DPS, and you find yourself some Job security. I have yet to find a boomkin score consistently higher than 3500 on boss fights, and even that was the best Boomkin I've come in contact with. With Mages in similar gear putting out 500-1000 more DPS on the regular, the demand for more than 1 Boomkin falls off quite quickly. Same goes for more than one of each type of Shaman.

With a predefined raiding group, all this really will do is allow you to raid when, in another circumstance, there weren't enough Tanks on for Construct quarter, or, when a Feral druid isn't invited to Malygos because he isn't ranged. I really think it will help alleviate some of the importance of certain class types.

My question is why they are making it for only 80s? Finding real Heals and real Tanks for grinding up is a HUGE pain in the *** - this dual spec thing would make it much more bearable.

There are only so many extra "just in case" healers/tanks you're going to need. Sure, a slot or three may get rostered as hybrids for "just in case" moments, but I doubt it'll become a big problem.

I'm not worried about it at all. Our healers are generally always our healers and our dps almost always our dps. We always have a couple of hybrids there just doing their job. If they really need to switch for some reason they would have had to respec anyway. Basically gives me a PVP spec...

I don't really know that much about the dual spec stuff and can't find too much info on it. so when in doubt, ask the pros :) As I understand it, you go find your trainer when you're lvl 80 and pay a one time fee to add a second spec. here's my questions

1) How do you switch back and forth? some instant cast thing or a ten second cast like teleport?

1a) And does it have a cool down? (once perfight, once per hour, etc etc)

2) Can you switch while in combat?

2b) if yes to above, can you then switch your gear too? (possibly with the new gear switching thing they;re adding)

3)When you go to respec, do you have to pay to respec each one separately or does it reset both?

4) What are the general suggestions for the two? i'm assuming some kind of Raid spec for one and a pvp spec/soloing spec for the other?

5) (random question) Am i to assume all the new glyphs Major glyphs?

6) Are we also going to have to replace glyphs too or do the glyphs switch when the spec switches?

Any kind of answers would be awesome.

From what I have experienced on the PTRs:

1) How do you switch back and forth? some instant cast thing or a ten second cast like teleport?
5 second cast, usable anywhere but BGs, Arenas, and im combat.

1a) And does it have a cool down? (once perfight, once per hour, etc etc)
No cooldown as far as I cna tell.

2) Can you switch while in combat?
No, that would be OP
2b) if yes to above, can you then switch your gear too? (possibly with the new gear switching thing they;re adding)

3)When you go to respec, do you have to pay to respec each one separately or does it reset both?
When you switch back and forth the other talent tree becomes activated (just imagine tabbing between two talent specs that you activate one or the other with a 5 second cast). You respec whicever one you have activated if you pay for it.

4) What are the general suggestions for the two? i'm assuming some kind of Raid spec for one and a pvp spec/soloing spec for the other?
I will be doing an Arcane and probably an Arcane/Fire build for raiding depending on what we need.

5) (random question) Am i to assume all the new glyphs Major glyphs?
I do believe so.
6) Are we also going to have to replace glyphs too or do the glyphs switch when the spec switches?
you get to buy 2 sets of glyphs, but they transfer with your talent spec, along with your bars

You're the best. Amazingly helpful as always. Just a few more clarification:

So we get two sets of specs to switch back and forth between, and two sets of glyphs to switch back and forth between? completely independant of each other? Or this spec gets these glyphs and that spec gets those glyphs and they're connected together (sorry if thats hard to understand, kinda repeated myself but dont know how to word it)

and 7) would it be possible to pop invis/feign death/(name your "oh sh*t" key here) and switch specs since you're out of combat (haven't found a practical use for this, just curious)

to answer your question the two are tied together. for instance you can have an arcane set and a fire set of glyphs that will change with your spec. hope that answers it.

that being said, if you are ooc and not going back in it is possible, albeit I don't know if it is possible to start casting it before going back into combat and being interrupted seeing how it takes 5 seconds and unaffected from haste iirc.
