1) proper typing will get you a lot farther than some stupid AIM/texting bs.

2) haste is nice, but spellpower is better - always.
#3REDACTED, Posted: Feb 18 2009 at 3:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) awesome advice... I really appreciate it..and last time I checked i wanted advice for haste not your insight on spellpower...sorry for the grammer.

okay then feel free to cast your weaker spells a couple percent faster than my stronger ones. Go nuts stack all the haste you want and go oom faster as well. Snotty attitudes won't get you very far here.

There's no real such thing as a 'haste'-mage. It isn't like a Holy Paladin or a Protection Warrior. If you want to stack a lot of haste, then that is fine. Just know that spellpower is your best stat, by far, and as arcane, haste is secondary. You can still stack quite a bit at higher levels (while leveling it isn't quite as common). I have about 15% haste (close to 500points) at level 80 in my raiding gear to give you an idea. You won't be able to cast super-fast no matter how much haste you stack because of the way that it scales - Don't expect 3second casts in 2 seconds or faster (except during bloodlust + icy veins + potion of speed, etc). You will cut off %s of the cast times though.

ok ok. So SP first then haste secondary. Right? But haste makes a big difference....right?

Having a LOT of haste can make a difference. Spells/abilities like Bloodlust/Heroism/Icy Veins that increase your haste by X% (20% for instance) makes a more noticeable affect on your casting speed than having, say 100 haste from gear. Always stack spellpower first (it will be the primary stat on almost all of your gear anyway...) but if you want to ignore crit for the most part you can do that (although again, it will come on gear later with haste and spell power!).

So yes and no. Haste makes a somewhat noticeable difference if you watch your cast time to the fraction of the second. For instance, my 2.5 second casts now cast for about 2.1 seconds with about 15% haste, which is a fairly sizeable amount of haste stacking at level 80 (specifically gearing for it). Now, with bloodlust+icyveins that will cut down to be about 1.5 second casts and so forth, which, I'm sure as you can tell, makes a seeminly bigger difference (almost cutting cast time in half).

I hope that helps.

I probably would have just rated him down and moved on after the first response. You have the patience of a saint, Anobix.

I just stopped by to mention that my 3s casts get down to 1.7s with IV/Heroism. I really wish I could trade more of that for crit.
