Weapon DamageFollow

Hello:

Haven't played World of Warcraft since its initial release, so sorry to noob it up for ya.

Weapon damage. What is it, or better stated, how is it calculated when using our rune abilities?

Obliterate
100% Weapon Damage +124 + (62 * Disease)
Scourge Strike
60% Weapon Damage + 81 + (40.5 * Disease)
Blood Strike
50% Weapon Damage + 65 + (32.5 * Disease)
Frost Strike
60% Weapon Damage + 52.2
Death Strike
60% Weapon Damage + 67.2
Plague Strike
30% Weapon Damage + 37.5

Is it your actual weapon damage? For example, Apolyon, the soul render has a damage of 404 - 607. Does this mean your weapon damage is 404 - 607? If so, how does it work with duel wielding? Do you add the damage of the weapons together?

Is it your attack power? Or some combination of character stats? If so, what is the calculation?

Thank you,
Vivoliber

Its neither :P

In ur character screen, under melee tab is a Damage stat
the main hand number is the damage used.

This makes Dual wield only really usefull for Unholy, cause as u mightve noticed, all skills that use weapon damage are blood/frost :P

"In ur character screen, under melee tab is a Damage stat

So, is this damage stat just your base damage from your weapon? So, if my weapon is 100 - 125 my damage stat would be 100 - 125. Or, is there another component to the calculation? If so, what is the formula?

Don't Unholy's also use these attack runes?
Did the game developers who have posted that they attempted to make Duel Wield, 2handers, and 1hand/Shield balance notice this grotesque flaw?

ok there's some misinformation here.

First off.
When you use an instant attack your damage is like this
Damage = WeaponDamage*WeaponDamageModifier + BaseDamage + AP*APModifier + Diseases * DiseaseModifier

WeaponDamage is the raw damage of your weapon. For modelling purposes you simply take the average of the high and low damage (High + low) / 2.
Weapon Damage Modifier is that 100%, or 60%, or whatever.
Base Damage is inherent to each ability.
AP Modifer is invisible, and thats the % of your AP that gets applied onto the attack's damage. it is different for every ability. For Melee attacks it is generally 1/14 * AP.
Disease Modifer is listed. Disease is either 0 1 2 or 3 depending on how many you have up.

also WTF are you guys talking about dual wield.
Chamassa you have no clue what you are saying. First the only dual wield build involves not using any "Strike" abilities, and its frost....

If you are DWing it only uses your mainhand damage. since 1h weapons have crappier base damage, your strikes hit for much less.

Erm...huh?

The only common attacks that dont base off weapon damage are Death Coil, Icy Touch and Howling Blast. Everything else depends on weapon damage; the only good DW spec (nerfed and about to be nerfed more) is a Frost-based one relying on Howling Blast.

Woulda thought someone with so many lvl80s would have known that.
