So i am making a new rogue that i plan to take to 80. All the FAQs here talk about Combat or Assinate. Nothing about Subelty. There is a brief mention in Theo's guide but nothing serious. I am liking the look of this spec because it seems the most....rogueish. Also the huge opener crits seem nice. So any input will help me out. Thanks!

Just my Smiley: twocents level how you want to. Heck you can level without any talent points spent. It will just take you a bit longer. The other two specs are just the fastest to use. It really doesn't matter.

Most Sub talents are really a lot better suited for PvP than PvE. By comparison Assassination and Combat were built more for PvE. You could probably level with a Sub build just fine, but as it's already been mentioned the other two builds are a lot faster and more practical for PvE play.

There is nothing wrong with leveling Sub, hell I even prefer it now. My first character was a Rogue and I leveled him via Combat a couple years ago. It was fast, efficient and served me well. Flash forward to now and after gearing up my Warrior with Heroic Gear and items, found myself with a hundred or so extra Emblems of Heroism and wanting to level a rogue (on PvP server now..horde side...so couldnt transfer my first rogue over as he is alliance). I used the Emblems of Heroism to purchase the weapon, trinket and shoulders and used Stone Keeper Shards to purchase the other weapon and trinket.

I leveld to 30 as combat again and decided to give Sub a try. They had moved some talents around in certain trees and it really didn't look that bad. At 30, I switched to Sub and have been loving it ever since. Rogue is now 37 and levels are flying by, plus I have the added protection of being sub on a PvP server. Instance and dps wise it may not compete, but for pure leveling purposes, it is fun and efficient! It definately makes you feel as though you are playing a rogue. Give it a try - it really works well.

I have a nelf rogue level 29 I am using daggers and love stealth. I may just switch to sub at level 30. Though I am curious. I thought swords were better for sub then daggers cause of the damage increase from SB. Am I wrong. What build are you currently using for your level sub rogue. I have never played sub, always have been combat. I usually use swords but wanted a chance to see what its like attacking from stealth. :D

I played all specs with my rogue, and by far i find sub spec the most fun. For leveling and grinding it does very decent and you have tools at your disposal to get you out of bad situations, that also makes it a very nice pvp spec. You can basically stack a garrote and a 5 point rupture pop a vanish then hit cheapshot and cause alot of damage to someone who decides to mess with ya.

The downfall of sub spec is sustained dps. I can probably get about 2-4k dps with your non Hat builds for the first minute but after that i saw myself drop to 1800.

The other specs, they can destroy numerous of things and top dps meters but my only pitfall with them is that they lack utility when things dont go the way you intend. Combat has a little bit more oh sh*t buttons to mash than a mutilate rogue. But with no way of resetting cooldowns you have roughly 2 minutes of getting your face smashed in.

Also, play to your liking but dont gimp a group.
