Ret Gear ListFollow

While the servers were shutdown last night I thought I'd do something a little more constructive then my usual WoW lore reading and draw up a Pre Raid/Heroic Ret Pally Gear list. It seems people have been asking for this for a while now, so hopefully this can suffice until the Ret Guide is upgraded or this is added to it.

I've tried to keep with a similar format of the Ret guide giving a quest reward, craftable, dungeon drop or reputation/badge/goal item. I've also tried to stick to strength, crit and hit, the 'bread and butter' stats of the Ret Paladin. I have added in some dungeon drops from heroics and would advise that prospective Ret Raiders aim for some of these pieces before heading into 10 man Naxx. Try and avoid having too many pieces of Savage Saronite gear too. There is a fair bit of wasted itemization on resilience with it's gear.

Bear in mind I haven't bolded a supreme Libram either. It will depend on your spell rotation and seal of choice. I'd advise either having the green one alone or both of the other two (one for SoM/B and one for SoC for those fights when SoM/B is not advised eg Loatheb/Gluth in Naxx).

A word of warning on dungeon drops though: Like anything in WoW the RNG, bad tanks, bad healers, idiotic dpsers and buggy bosses can make some of these drops very hard to obtain. I have only added in info for drops on the links that Allakhazam doesnt have info on. For all others just click on the link.

Auction House Special: Cloak of Bloodied Waters is a bind on equip drop from heroic Gundrak which has probably the best itemization you can get on a pre raid cloak.

Craftable: Savage Saronite Hauberk

Badges: Heroes' Redemption Chestpiece for 80 Emblems of Heroism.

The cloak of bloodied waters is an instance drop (I think random mob), not craftable. I believe it drops in Drak Tharon Keep. Otherwise good post.
Some more information. The incisor fragment drops off King Dred in Drak Tharon(Heroic). The sphere of Red Dragon's Blood drops in Nexus(Heroic) I believe off of Keristrasza. The Hemorrhaging Circle drops off of Gal'Darah in Zul'Drek.

The cloak of bloodied waters is arguably the best cloak for ret palys until the Drape of the Deadly Foe off of Heroic Naxx (KT). Buy it without hesitation.

I paid 30g for my Cloak of Bloodied Waters. Auction House steal IMO. Not sure why the links have bugged though.

I always wondered why they force you to use PvP Craftables if you're a DPS melee who wears plate.

I coulda sworn there was a +hit rating/+crit rating saronite, but then I looked it up on Alla, and there's actually not, very oddly.

Yet another glaring hole in craftables that Blizz has yet to fill.

If I were a retadin, I'd even go as far as to buy friggin melee leather that has +Hit, instead of PvP plate with +resil. I mean, as a retadin, not like you should be getting hit often anyways, right? Unless, of course, there's a Ret Talent that increases AP by Armor or something... its been awhile since I looked at the ret tree, though.

Sure mate. I'd be happy for you to use the info here in the Ret Guide. On the Savage saronite gear with resilience issue there is the cobalt set that offers hit rating (its a green set not blue). I stayed away from it for the simple reason that most pieces had haste and if you intend to pug most people will cry out undergeared if they see mid level 70 greens equipped.

I stayed away from the Occulus legs for the simple reason that unless its a guild run you will struggle in there. I think many people just can't grasp the dragon/vehicle part of the instance. Heroic UK on the other hand can be done easily in 25-40mins with your average entry heroic level group. My PB with a PuG on h UK was 23mins due to an incoming server shutdown.

On the berserking topic. Yeah I read that on another forum but from what I remember it procs 35% of the time so 35% of 400 is 140 ap vs. 110 static ap which makes berserking better. Plus blizz reduced the armor nerf of the proc too.

Yeah, I didn't even put massacre on my destroyer. I'm holding out for one of the five weapons i consider better :)
