Currently alot of hunters in our raiding guild just hit level 80. Let me list them with some (nick)names. There is smart who has been level 80 for a week and declines raid invites because he openly admits he's not ready to raid gear wise. Then there is want to raid 1 (WR1) who dinged 80 and two days after he dinged he bought a frost resistance epic ring and ran reg CoS a couple times and said he was ready for sapph (thats who we were doing that night). Then there is want to raid 2 (WR2) who accepts every raid invite on the calendar (knowing he's not ready) and then makes 1 or two complaints about not being invited to raids then goes on his jolly way. Then there is me. Then there is out of the loop who is in his own world.
When I entered the guild the amount of huntard jokes circling around were phenomenal. So I worked hard. I attended every raid collected gear, researched my class, and boss fights, researched threat dynamics, tried to be as out going as I could. With time the huntard jokes went down to maybe 1 or two a day? Time passes, and our second hunter dings level 80 and the raid leader ask me to take him under my wing get him raid ready. (Unofficially dubbing me a class leader? He asks me to do this for 2 other hunters too.) So I happily accept it. I advise this hunter on everything and once he's raid ready he stops playing (not completly but barely ever on) So I say hey whatever more phat lewtz for me.
It comes time to down Sapph for our third time and the guild leader plans the event and sends the invite to all level 80s. However she didn't inspect any gear she just said at least 3 range dps, 4 healers, and 1 tank. Which is cool, but the night of the raid guess who demands a spot? WR1. Everyone is yelling at him saying your not going or getting a spot. So get on and people just scream at me "Lol talk to your hunter!" So I do. I do not know what he was think, he was BM leveling spec had 12 hit rating and 700-800 damage per shot with his gun, 1.4k attack power, 13% chance to crit. I don't laugh I tell him.
"Your most likely not coming tonight but I can help you out to get ready and you might get an invite next week." He happily agrees and takes all my advice. I make him a temporary spec to compliment the raid and his gear. I told him to first of all work on getting honored with wyrmrest for the one handed weapons for dual wielding. (+20 stam, +29 agil, +33 hit, +22 crit, I think.) So he respecs and then continues to ask for a spot in the raid. The Guild leader has been on a business trip for a week so she finally gets back right before the raid and hastily invites WR1.
WR1 was out dps by the tank... He pumped 564 dps, contributed to 5 wipes and caused 2 of them 100%. The huntard jokes have returned. Well today one of our mages found out he's 10 years old. Everyone started agreeing that 560 dps is good for a 10 year old. Friday our guild leader has another raid planned to teach all the new 80s about raiding and get them used to the atmosphere.
His name is Icedimond on shu'halo, I had him spec MM for trueshot aura for the raid since I keep replenishment up 100% of the time. I will be playing my ret pally come friday so we will have replenishment. Does anyone have any advice I could give him that I haven't already said?
(My hunter is dietoliveko on shu'halo and paladin is diestructo on shu'halo. That is if you want to see how his spec compliments the raid as compared to me.)
