FUN tame, just because we couldFollow

So... I'm a BM spec, not because it's easy (no class is easy if you do everything you can to be the best you can in any situation) but because I love it. I love the exotic pets, chasing down the rare skins, camping the rare spawns, etc. It's one of the greater joys in WoW to do the "more than casual effort" to get a pet, like riding an alliance boat into the middle of hostile territory to get my lovely white corehound. ;)

Anyway... even though King Dred is the same skin as one of the devilsaurs in UnGoro, I knew that he would be a challenge. Un-stunnable, un-freezable, fear casting, butt kicking instance elite boss that he is, I was determined to tame him, and I did... if you're interested, details follow:

Some friends and I on the Staghelm server (Hod, a lvl 80 prot paladin, and Arinne, a lvl 80 frost mage) were 3-manning the instance (NON HEROIC, heh) to get to the elder inside. We'd been through before, and I had spotted him and craved the tame, and since we were 3-manning fairly well, I asked them if we could try to tame Dred, just because. They were game, so in we went, 3-man (ok, 1 woman) wrecking crew! The first attempt was a disaster... I dropped an immolation trap and pulled Dred with distracting shot, followed by an Arcane, and went to taming. Unfortunately, Hod's healing stole Dred's aggro about 60% into the tame, and I could never get it back long enough to finish the tame.

The second attempt ended with the same results, as Hod changed his approach to lower aggro gain from healing, but Dred's fear ruined my hopes. Third attempt, SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO close, but I was smooshed with about a tic and a half left to go. Poor Arinne, the mage, could only sit and watch as we tried those 3 times, and Hod was frustrated, as he couldn't heal fast enough to keep me alive without gaining aggro. It was then a plan began to hatch... Hod needed to be able to heal me a bit faster, so I needed more aggro, but I couldn't waste the valuable seconds in taming to gain it, and Arinne was bored!

SOLUTION: Arinne switched to her son's 78 hunter and we went in again! This time, Arinne put a misdirect on me and fired an Arcane shot plus 2 autos on Dred, I pulled with distracting shot and led him through an immolation trap, then started taming. Hod started healing and popped his damage shield once to drop aggro mid way, and... KING DRED ROLLED OVER AND BEGGED FOR A TUMMY RUB!

**edit: forgot to mention that I tamed a trash mob, and right before the 4th attempt, I fired off BW for the resistance to fear, abandoned the pet, and started the rest. Would hate for someone else to attempt this fun tame without full info. ;) ;)

Big whoop, right? It was to me, and them as well! We successfully pulled off a 3-man taming of an instance boss with a tank specced pally and two hunters! Now, he's my shiny orange brief shining WoW moment that I will always remember! At this point, it's one of my top 3 WoW moments of all times, as it was a TOUGH challenge that I (with Hod and Arinne) met without giving in to discouragement! w00t for the BM spec! Tell me that ain't fun!

...and I'm *still* good in a raid, being able to pull 2k+ dps without any raid gear yet. HA!

Find what you enjoy, work to be the best you can be, and enjoy the game! Now... if I could just get Loque to spawn where *I* can see him... /sigh

Heh... perhaps I will give that a shot soon.

...BUT...

I finally nabbed Loque last night! I chose the method of picking my favorite spot (way up north) to watch and wait, that way I could do things around the house and just glance at the monitor from time to time to see what was going on... I spent two weeks doing that, with a 3 hour session just last night with a little more scrutiny.

...nothing.

Just as I was giving up for the night, due to no Loque (or either of the other rare spawns that share his timer) and no invites to raids or heroics, I was hanging my head low. On a last second whim, though, I decided to circle the map one last time, using my target macro. As you can imagine, from all of your own extended camping for one particular pet/item experiences, I practically WET myself when he showed up in one of the other spots!

I landed, hands shaking, located the beast, dropped a freeze trap and was about to hit the tame button when... a wandering gorilla got stuck in my trap! I just knew that any moment would bring another hunter with better luck than my own, so I busted the ape out of the ice, feigned to send him running back to his bananas, and waited for the 30 second CD (felt like to took an hour and a half) on my traps to reset. Finally... the trap was ready, a distracting shot was fired to tap him and discourage the casual passerby from killing him, and the tame was on!

Now, around the staghelm server, all ya have to do is watch for the strutting orc and lazer kitty combo, and you'll know you've met me. LOL Being a huge fan of 80's music, and having my ghost saber already named "KatBenatar", I aptly named my new beastie "ToneLoque". HA!

btw: just in case there are any other staghelm hunters looking for this prize and trying to get his "timer" down, I tamed him @ roughly 10:25 p.m. CST.
