DK Overall DPS is Killin MeFollow

I am A SV hunter and am really enjoying it but my gosh, is anyone else getting owned by DK's for overall raid damage. I pull down just over 4K on Patch and on most boss fights in 10 and 25 Naxx runs I top the charts for DPS. Overall, I seem to always finsh under a well geared DK. Their oveall AOE seems imposssible to beat by the end of the raid.

I guess I am mostly venting but also I am wondering two things. First, am I alone and second, maybe if someone has found a good way to compansate for our AOE Nerf.

During the 4-5 mob trash pulls in Naxx, I tend to throw down a few volley's and when the pack drops to 2-3, I start launching my ES>Aimed>SS. The problem is that on the second or third trash pull I find myself doing half of the above sequence in reverse order and in Viper to build my mana up. To be honest, with over half of our DPS on 10 or 25 doing over 3K there is unually not enough time to run in a trap especially when I am utilizing my sniper from 30-35 feet away.

Happy Hunting.

Let them have their trash DPS. Single target boss DPS is all that matters.

But as you asked, well geared DK, boomkin, elemental shaman, mages, ret pallies all win on trash pulls since the volley nerf. I also wait a little longer than many though, as I hate repair bills.

People care about overall dps?

I only pay attention to boss fights. Who cares about trash? (within reason. I do care if it appears someone is afking on trash).

You can't always be at the top, no matter what class you are.

First, like others have said... overall DPS doesn't mean too much. The only time I am worried about my DPS is during a build change- to make sure I am getting the mechanics of that playstyle down.

It seems like Blizzard is doing a good job if there are other classes that can beat you for overall DPS. Blizzard once stated that it wants all ranged DPS to be comparable, in order to allow classes to become interchangeable for raids. All that political BS being said, I know it's not fun to not pwn after the brief taste of power Blizzard gave us. But you also have to look at our basic design, we are single target DPS- thus unless you are pulling in MC you shouldn't be at max capacity (ahh.. the good ol days of sweating elemental pulls in MC!)

To answer your question though, if you aren't using your build mechanics, you shouldn't be topping DPS. DK's are close and personal AoE DPS. You are a SV build. You NEED to get up there, drop your Explosive and Disengage/Explosive shot if you want to compete. If you are only relying on Sniper Training, you aren't pushing your build DPS. Other things to consider.. are you popping CD's (if you have any?) Volley is still based on AP (even though the coefficient was lowered) so if you plan on throwing a few out there, popping that AP trinket will still benefit. Are you consumable maxed? Is the DK doing this? If you aren't and he is, you will loose the DPS race. The days of lock-like FOFLMAO face-rolling DPS is over... you gotta push yourself and your build to keep on top anymore.

That being said.. like I said before.. overall DPS is not the end-all-be-all. You are a single target DPS machine, don't sweat the small stuff!

I eat DK's for breakfast and then snack on a rogue or two. I see nothing to worry about. Who really cares if they can get a bit more aoe? It's all about the boss fights imo.
