Dealing with mobs immune to Frost NovaFollow

I have a level 77 mage with a frost spec (0/5/63 at the moment). The only mobs I seem to have problems soloing are elites immune to frost nova, even those 5-6 levels below me. My gear is decent (mostly blues) - generally +int, +spell, +sta - but not great since I only have time to do solo PvE. I'm just wondering if anyone can offer a good attack strategy for dealing with these types of mobs.

Find a group or get really good at kiting with your water elemental.

Or fireblast kiting. If the mobs are snareable, just not rootable, then so long as you have Permafrost and Chilled to the Bone, OP, you shouldn't have any problems kiting them.

i had the same problem at low level trying to farm those turtles for the cooking recipe and had to resort to fire/arcane as they completely ignored my pure frost spec spells , it seems even at high level a Mage needs to be able to kill out of their spec and i hope it is still possible as it was for me at level 30 with those darn turtles , a slower kill but still possible ?.

I see no real answers as yet except from Poldaran but i hope someone has tried it and succeeded.
