I need some help with a macro to cast hunter's mark and switch to aspect of the dragonhawk. Without turning aspect of the dragonhawk off if I'm already using it.

I came up with:

#showtooltip Hunter's Mark
/cast Hunter's Mark
/cast Aspect of the Dragonhawk

However as I said this turns aspect of the dragonhawk off if I'm already using it.

Anyone have any suggestions? I know if/else statements have been removed for some time now but I wasn't sure if there is another way around it to get it to not run that line if I already have AotD already on.

/cancelaura Aspect of the DragonHawk
/cast Aspect of the Dragonhawk

This should work, I can't test it at the moment though, let me know.

Mark invokes the GCD though, so you'd want to put the aspect first.

What is the point of this macro? And why do you want a macro to automatically switch back to dragonhawk? You should only be in viper for 1 kill in maybe 10. Are you really so lazy that you need a macro to switch for you? A better macro would be one that casts HM, sends pet in, and hits the mob with serpent sting or something like that.

If you are talking about a raiding macro to swap between the two, scroll down and i remember seeing a post about that here on allah, it may be a few pages back by now.

If you want some good macro advice, check out elitist jerks hunter class mechanics, there is a post there about macors that has some very useful ones.

I suggest using this:

/castsequence !Aspect of the Dragonhawk, !Aspect of the Viper
/cast [modifier: Shift] !Aspect of the Beast

And bind that to the button left of '1' (` for me, something else for american keyboards).
Then bind Pack and Wild to ctrl+` and alt+`.
You'll have all your aspects in 1 button.

I want the macro, rinkkel, because I routinely forget to switch back to dragonhawk for new pulls doing trash. It's not game breaking to realize 2 shots in that I'm in the wrong aspect but it is annoying.

Thanks Xsarus, I'll try that tonight. Should work as aspects are on their own global cooldown now.

This doesn't help your macro question, but just an FYI. There are Viper addons that notify you to switch out of Viper. I just installed Vipernotify and it plays a sound when you reach a certain percentage of your mana. There are a few others as well.

Random aside, but it's still ` on the standard 102-key US layout.

The more you know~

I am new to Macros and I am new to Hunter so I have a probably dumb question. Would this macro work well.

/cast [target=tanks name] Misdirection
/cast Volley

I think if this would work it would be great to help the tank get aggro when pulling multiple mobs.

Hunter's Mark activates the Global CoolDown, so maybe change the order around. (with the latest patch, may not be necessary any more)

Try:

#showtooltip Hunter's Mark
/cast !Aspect of the Dragonhawk
/cast Hunter's Mark

I used to use a macro for making sure I was in Aspect of the Monkey before mounting up, just to reduce the chance of getting knocked off. That was before mounts became spells instead of items in your bags.
I'll have to see if "/cast Reins of the Swift Stormsaber" still works. :-)

You can simple change your macro to:

#showtooltip Hunter's Mark
/cast Aspect of the Hawk
/cast Hunter's Mark

I use this one if I forget to get out of viper between pulls, I know its not dragonhawk, but it gives you all the benefits of hawk during the pull and you just have to remember to swap back to dragonhawk during, or after.

If you already have dragonhawk up, it will simply tell you that a more powerful spell is being used and you won’t drop out of it.

Sadly volley no longer works well with misdirection.
