You're not soloing HVH, are you? Use the other people in your group to pick up the mob that splits (though I only ever recall seeing one split off, not two mobs). I've done HVH with a good tank who's got the fancy footwork Arthoriuss suggests, but especially in PUG runs, usually the tank whle pick up the multi-mob group while I throw a Judgment at the loose guy and then kite him back over to the tank. Unless the DPS is really really trigger happy, my first Flash of Light on the tank normally tends to draw the splitter's aggro anyway.

Oh, I agree 100%. I wouldn't want to trade our advantages of not needing a charge to get a charge, ever. It's just those occasions where the Druid charges in, the DPS warriors charge in, the pets charge in, and I'm still running behind them yelling, "I'M A COMIN! DON'T AOE YET!!" lol

The longest second in the game right now is the gap between the Feral tank's Fairie Fire and his first Swipe. After a year-plus of hearing very patient bear tanks repeat over and over again "FF doesn't build aggro!!!" Blizzard kindly fixes that nuisance, and yet now many bears still need a macro that says "FF only builds aggro on ONE target!!!" Pally tank pulling is so much safer in comparison. Regardless of the tank's class, though, the onus still falls on the DPS to pay attention to the pull, but at this point, as so many people have noted, asking DPS to focus on anything other than the e-peen meter seems like asking too much.

And that's only in address to DPS. When playing my tree I expect any tank to be able to handle me rolling my Lifebloom stack throughout the entire instance. I'm not fond of wasting mana (though miniscule) by letting stacks expire and re-casting when the next fight starts. Meaning, they have 1 second after they eat their first hit (and Lifebloom heals) to get even some kind of superficial threat on everything. This taught a couple of my friends who play Warriors and Druids very quickly how their classes can be used to establish some AoE threat (not enough to hold against AoE DPS, but certainly enough to lock down a pack of mob from the healer) -- which is frankly neccessary in Wrath content. Nothing makes my tree cringe more than a Devestate bot stuck in TBC.

So true and so funny. As a RL and master looter at times I find myself running behind the whole pack who has just decided that it's high time we kept pushing and I see mayhem ahead of me, and all my raid is between me and the AoE action. Fun times.

Of course, there ain't many times when you can't really pick things up after one or two seconds, and they are always a good laugh all the same. So like I say, fun times.

Back to the OP in current content I out-threat similarly geared tanks by a good 30%, to the point that I have to hold back if not MT. Other tanks in my guild "hate" me as OT unless I'm nice and I keep RF off and only cast it if said MT goes the way of the Dodo.
