Tanking H CoSFollow

I've just started tanking the easier heroics with my DK (so far so good), and am wondering if anyone has any advice for CoS. In normal, I had trouble with my AOE cooldowns not always keeping up with the pace of the instance, and I'm trying to figure out if that will equal constant wipes in the Heroic version (not to mention the timed achievement... argh...).

Anyone else have similar problems with AOE cd time? And does anyone have a good strategy for DK tanking H CoS (as well as the timed version, if it's even possible)? Maybe my rotation is just off...

Doing it timed is a gear check for the group, I don't remember there being any secrets or anything to doing it.

EDIT: You're barely def capped with very little mitigation. That's probably why you're wiping so much

Thx for the response. In Frost Presence (which for some reason WOWArmory doesn't show), my armor is at 27.3K, and health is at 29.1K unbuffed, which should be enough (let me know if I'm wrong). My parry is a little low, because I took the Gargoyle rune in order to gem for Expertise to hit the dodge cap. Maybe I'll rethink that one.

It's the AOE cooldown time that's the problem. If my party rushes ahead (and they always do), we (sometimes) either have to hit mobs with DnD and Pest on cd, or sit around and wait for it to come up. I'm assuming this will be an even bigger issue if I try to tank the timed event.

Anyone else having this problem? I think it might just be a rotation issue, but I'm not sure.

As a healer, if the tank ran off without me I let him die and called him stupid for it.
As a tank, if the dps hit things before I did, obviously they wanted to tank it, and I was perfectly happy to let them do it.

It's trigger-happy PuG dps that's causing your troubles. I bet your situation isn't much different when doing the gauntlet in UP.

I'm using automark and have it bound to IT and some other things. I'm telling dps to focus on the marked target until I got to lay down DnD or cast Howling Blast (which will be AFTER Pestilence). Both spells are easy enough to notice, and if people don't (want to) listen, anything that goes wrong during trash pulls is no longer my fault.

I have tanked the timed run as blood (and not specced into Morbidity at the time due to the bug).
I used DnD exclusively as an opener for the packs. To hold group agro I spammed Pest. Never lost agro and DnD was ready for every pack.
I actually blew a timed run when I DnD'ed a pile of non-elites and it wasn't off CD for the next pack - lesson learned, I always let the group deal with the non-elites as I just run through them to the next pack.
Your HP and armor are more than enough - I think I was at 28k HP when I completed the timed.
I recommend front loading your defensive CDs on the packs to reduce the burst at the beginning of each pull.

I agree with Dil - its a group check. A geared tank can't carry a group through the timed. If the DPS isn't up to snuff the groups/bosses don't die fast enough, and your healer has to be able to keep you up and keep up with you.
And Kann makes a great point about marking - keybind skull and X (I put them on my side mouse buttons) so you can mark on the fly. Really helps your dps focus.

I lucked out and won the drake roll on my first timed run - love it!
Good luck man!

Cheers!
