"Buffed" back to normal values again.... CRAP! I just respecced to SV. I wonder how this will play out with the new tier of pet talents that blizz was talking about?

if their ultimate goal is to make all specs the same DPS, then I think I'm staying SV...its just too much fun (I feel like a mage)

Spreadsheet is already updated to 3.0.9 so you can check.

Not with the new pet talents of course, but you can see the effects that 3.0.9 will have on BM.

The big 50/21 BM dps spec was based on call of the wild stacking and TBW->readiness. With both of these gone, this will just make BM more viable. I'm happy about this, as I can tell all the fail hunters in my raid to just go BM. Not allowed to kick them, but at least that way they're not as dependent on skill to contribute somewhat to the raid.

well for my current gear, using the new spreadsheet I get 1947 DPS (1650 for me; 297 for my cat) using a 0/19/52 spec. When I throw BM up, I went with a 50/14/7 and got 1643 DPS (1094 from me; 549 from my cat).

I'm sure my talent points could be optimized here and there for you raiders, but I don't think it will bridge the gap from 1643 DPS to 1947 DPS. What MIGHT is the new talents for our pets.

Again, this is just my gear, no buffs (other than dragonhawk). Your results may differ, but I'm staying SV for now.

Spreadsheet examples with anything but all the raidbuffs you can reliably count on having are pretty worthless.
Especially because BM scales a hell of a lot better with Buffs.

hmmmm, I think you told me that once Aethien, but just like when my wife is talking, I'm not paying attention. I've never raided so that stuff is beyond me at the moment. Just for giggles, I throw up the Level 80 raid buff profile that comes with the spreadsheet and got the following for my gear:

0/19/52 = 4163 DPS (3308 from me, 854 from my cat)
50/14/7 = 3838 DPS (2156 from me, 1682 from my cat)

Still 300+ DPS behind for my gear.

That said, I'd make sweet sweet love to my computer if I ever hit those kinds of DPS no matter what spec I am. I can't imagine the numbers the spreadsheet will say for you good raiding hunters...I still have on my S2 helm and a green quest belt.

This is what I am referring to. With their announcement of adding a new tier to pet talents, the "un-nerfing" of those 2 talents could have a major effect on pet DPS again. I am just wondering if they are just picking the scab- letting it heal for a while but then will have to rip it open again later.

When they announced the great BM nerf I had always felt that the nerf to Steady and Volley would be enough to even out the score. The tough thing is, as they change things people push the envelope and try different combinations creating unforeseeable results. We all just cope and adapt.....
