Yup, it's coming ... this week, if mmo-c is anything to go by (and he usually is)

Bit of a mixed bag for arcane mages (ok, it looks like a teeny weeny nerf stick overall).

Mage (Skills List / Talent + Glyph Calc.)

* Arcane Power now increases damage and mana cost by 10%, cooldown reduced to 1 minute.
* Arcane Power and Presence of Mind now share a category cooldown. Arcane Power causes a 15 second cooldown. Presence of Mind, once consumed, causes a 1.5 second cooldown.
* Arcane Flows now reduces the cooldown of Presence of Mind, Arcane Power and Invisibility by 15/30%.
* Presence of Mind: The cooldown has been reduced to 2 minutes, (down from 3.)
* Slow (Arcane): now increases cast time by 30%, down from 60%.

Glyphs

* Glyph of Arcane Missiles -- Increases the critical strike damage bonus of Arcane Missiles by 25%. (Old - Increases the range of Arcane Missiles by 5 yards.)
* Glyph of Mana Gem -- Increases the mana recieved from using a mana gem by 40%. (Up from 10%)
* Glyph of Arcane Blast -- Increases the damage from your Arcane Blast buff by 3%. (Down from 5%)

Major PvP nerf. PvE nerf in that buff stacking is less effective(2pc mana gem + AP + Pot), but not unreasonable.

Glyph of AM is massively cool now. Mana gem glyph also similarly awesome.

Overall, seems like a minor PvE nerf, a fairly large PvP nerf for arcane. Can't wait to see what happens to Fire and Frost.

Interesting pve nerf with the pom/ap stacking thing... pretty crappy imo.

Could this be yet another instance where arena kills pve specs?

Is PoM really that vital to PvE? The AP to 10% change seems like it'd be more vital.

It definitely is more vital, by far. PoM is just nice because of the increased crit chance and easier stacking of arcane blast etc.

So what is the word on the new Glyph sets?

So far, at least when Running with Mage Armor + Glyph, mana hasn't been a concern in the sense that the Mana Gem would take precedence over a straight DPS Glyph. This may certainly not be the case with Molten, but I'm thinking with Mage Armor + Glyph I wont be using the Mana Gem glyph even with the huge buff.

Arcane Missiles, now, however looks EXTREMELY enticing, where the Arcane Power glyph is now less important. With such limited returns on Arcane Power now, and considering the fact that it doesn't even take a GCD to cast, perhaps this should just be changed into an On/Off Buff situation or something similar to that. Don't get me wrong, it'll still on my PowerUp Macro, but this will probably effect me less than my Trinkets.

This begs the question: are they intentionally trying to steer Arcane back to Crit builds?

However subtle the hints are, it looks like they WANT us to roll with Molten Armor + Glyph of Molten Armor. To be honest, I think that STINKS! There already are 2 perfectly good Raiding builds that are Crit-based and that use Molten Armor. I think Mage Armor is a MUCH cooler idea and, for fights like Saph and Malygos, really brings some extra Survivability in the realm of Magic - which is SUPPOSED to be our forte. Mage Armor also brings some use to Spirit (although not overpowering) that the very same people doing this patch were saying needs to have more importance in 3.1

I'm confused. I'll just be rolling the way I want to when this comes out unless it becomes prevailingly obvious that Crit is now Arcane's baby as much as it is FFB's. Then I'll just Bank up all the gear I thought was supposed to be Arcane and put back on my FFB crap. Horay -_-

So this means Arcane Power will be on a 42s cool down, and PoM will be 1m 24s I guess? I'm curious if they've removed the Evocation benefit from Arcane Flows. That would royally suck.

Also, I'm interested to see if the Slow adjustment will reduce movement speed by only 30% now. That would be a blow for PvP.

Seems fairly lame. I was enjoying destroying the meters in raids then going into BGs and killing people with ease on the same spec.

Time to wait and see. Also, when the hell are dual specs coming out?

according to the patch i just downloaded, AP was put down to 20% dmg and mana cost, not 10%, fair considering the reduced cd. The timers is a huge pvp nerf though.

I still want to know why our 41 point talent (Slow) now has the same slowing effects of a warlocks base abilities, sure ours is casting and movement but honestly, if its a melee i dont care how fast they cast, and if its a caster i dont care how fast they move...

good to know it is 20% now. That kind of turns it into a buff with the decrease in cooldown time. I will keep everyone updated on what the word is with elitist jerks. It is looking like the new glyph choices will be:

Arcane Blast
Molten Armor
Arcane Missiles

-- that was assuming the 10% nerf, it may come back up to be about equal with arcane missiles (Arcane Power Glyph) if it is 20%.

My PowerUp Macro isn't working.

It seems my Arcane Power, PoM, and Trinket all share some sort of cooldown or buff slot and cannot all be up at the same time? I really think this HAS to be a bug/mistake because this makes no sense.

I'll let you know if I continue to see this throughout the night.

Are the eltistjerks still saying flask of the frost wrym is best for arcane? It seems like the old school
Flask of Distilled Wisdom would work out better since it increases our mana pool and increases damage with Mind Mastery

First post already says that... It is impossible to use AP and POM at the same time now. Oh, and the 'patch notes' are wrong, AP gets 20% not 10% and has an 84second talented cooldown, not 42second.

@mgr, it is still by far better. It gives a hell of a lot more spellpower than a measely increase of intellect would.

In case you haven't seen it:

A last minute change was made to the mage Arcane Barrage spell which reduced its spell power coefficient. This change did not make it into the 3.0.9 patch notes. We will be carefully evaluating this change and its effects on game balance in both PvE and PvP. If you have constructive feedback to provide, please do so in this thread.

Yeah, it's coefficient dropped to 75% from 100% I believe.
