Level 69, going holy! *deep breath* So, question:Follow

OK, so I did it!

I respeced holy at level 67 and am planning a "cookie cutter" 14/57/0 Holy build. I'd been in a run as a shadow dps and was able to watch a great holy priest do his stuff, and that up close and personal view of his grab bag of heals was enough to put me over the edge. I am no longer wangsting about holy per se. I have new stuff to wangst about!

Now that I am almost level 70, I realize that I *really* need to get that extra pointage into the Disc tree. At what time do I need to use those 14 points toward Meditation?

In other words, what should my build look like NOW, at nearly 70?

I've also noticed that without my KILL KILL KILL Mind Flay button I don't have the soloing utility I once had, which is saddening, so should I include Spirit Tap until I hit 80? If so, which Holy/Disc talents should I forgo until then?

So my main concern is where all my points should be now, at level 70. 80 seems SO far away.

So: Spirit Tap - y/n? When to add the Disc. points? When to get Guardian Spirit? Lightwell or Lolwell? What should I look like now?

And OMG thank y'all so much for the help and encouragement you've given me on this board. You're all like sensei from Karate Kid, I swear. ^^

Yes, Now, Later, No, I dunno, how about Matt Damon?

Guardian Spirit and the other stuff toward the top of the Holy tree are very nice, but sadly, Blizz has fixed it so you really can't function without Meditation. Nobody anywhere can do anything without 14 points in Disc. Smiley: oyvey

I used this starting at 70 as a leveling build to get to 80 and it worked quite nicely for me for both healing 5 mans and soloing. At 80 you'd respec of course to get rid of the Smighty talents.

Teacake. I kiss you!

I bet you taste like Chai and shortbread. ^^

What a thread!
So Teacake and I differ on a few points.
I found that although the kill kill kill is gone, in truth it really just takes longer to kill if you use the right rotation. And shield a lot.
I don't use CoH (a big point where we differ) and personally I NEVER used Spirit Tap and did just fine. That be said, at 70 I looked more like this.

No, now, I don't, lolwell, and see link above.

Now HealPriests are rather cool in that you can go so many different directions and still kick butt.
Hope you find your path.

CoH will be getting a buff in 3.1, and I like the improved holy concentration, as well as spirit tap until 80, so my vote goes with teacake. Personally, I'd forgo a few points in extra healing for now and max out serendipity for the mana return, but those are just personal preferences.

If you start putting more than 14 points in disc, you are getting away from a deep holy build. Of course a disc build is another healing option. Take everyone's advice and decide what is best for you. Don't be afraid to respec and try different things.

To Spirit Tap or not to Spirit Tap... Maybe you can do a little test. When you start dropping your talent points, hold off on your last three. Go do some grinding and see how your mana holds up. If you find that you need that ectra mana replenishmenyt from Spirit Tap, put those three points in there. If not, then you can decide what else to put in your bag of tricks.

There is a flaw to this method, however. Your gear is about to go through a major overhaul once you reach Northrend and your stats will change as the new gear is equipped. Also, as you level Blizzard is going to make it harder and harder for you replenish mana. But at least you can get a taste of what it would be like without Spirit Tap instead of eating the respec cost.

This is a great idea wish I had thought of it.

I levelled a build similar to Teacakes from 70 to 80 but I'm full Disc now and especially since I've seen the love coming in these new class changes I'm not going back!

Actually.. you don't need to go deep holy (or disc) until you start heroics/raids. You don't need the additional healing talents from holy nor the additional mana talents from disc.

If you want to go questing/grinding your way to 80 do THIS.

71-75: max Enlightenment and Mental Strength. The last 5 points is up to you, and they don't impact the leveling speed. Maybe Reflective shield, as it deals additional damage (so faster kills). Or you can take spiritual healing for help in instances. All the talents needed are those that benefit YOU. More spell power and more stats for you.

Easy :D

just respecc'd last night. my build looks similar to the above posts' except I don't have surge of light. I put points into holy concentration instead. surge of light looks like it only benefits fh (for healing that is), which I don't really like to use. And I don't have spirit of redemption, but when I hit 68 I'll put that point into that. Didn't realize it raised spirit as well- that's a decent bonus.

anyways I had to respec and put points into meditation, I'm tired of drinking all the time. I know I said I'd do holy for the challenge. But it really hasn't been challenging. Just shows you can solo anything (except maybe elites) as any spec. And I've had people say it's too hard to solo level as holy. Pfft. Easy. but I am a little tired of drinking all the time. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, I'll do that here in a few minutes. I hope meditation is a good improvement.

Not anymore, but it used to be a pain. After 3.0, however, the spell damage stat and the healing stat were merged to form the spellpower stat, so healers have an easier time soloing in their healing set.

All of this is great advice.

A thread you might want to take the time to read is this one. It addresses a lot of issues Holy Priests have. I thought it was a great run.
