Hi guys!
I'm starting to get my little mage up to the 80s.
And i was frost from the beginning(cause i experience so much fun in it).
Are there any mages out there, which can give me some feedback on frost-raiding?
I would like to know where we stand right now.
And no, i dont want to go for frostfirebolt. Im speaking of pure frost.
In BC i could always hold my own against the other builds (not as good, but not far behind).
I found it always challenging to manage your elemental and your cooldowns so you maximize your damage.
Plz let me share your experiences with my favorite talent-tree!

Frost raiding is a wishful dream, mostly. It can be done to some degree, but you're placing yourself at a fairly far 4th in effectiveness of raiding builds as a mage.
If you want to do, on average, a thousand or more dps less than the next comparable build, then have at it.
But overall, if you want to raid, why not go with the optimal (or one of the optimal) specs, they are a heluvalot more fun than frostbolt spamming.

If you look back at the history of my posts, you will see that I used to love me some frost. Now; however, I'm not sure my guild would let me raid as frost. My guild is very casual and don't have a lot of speccing rules, but my DPS would go so substantially that I'm sure I would lose the permanent spot I have now. Blizz is going to have to do something about Frost. Right now it's not useful for Raiding or PVP in comparison to the other trees.
My guild probably wouldn't prevent me from raiding as a frost mage, but since I was "forced" to respec to FFB, I've fallen in love with it. Our arcane mage is kicking my butt in dps, but I tried arcane and just don't like it. I still might try frost out for raiding at some point before Ulduar, just for the hell of it, but I don't think I'd like to come off of the #2/#3 spot (we have 3 mages who raid most of the time together) in dps.
It was kind of neat to have a frost mage in a Vaults25 raid the other day, because I didn't have to scorch, but he didn't even show up on the charts. I guess if you just like frost that much, and your guild doesn't mind, you could stick with it, as long as you're doing the minimum dps necessary to get the job done (which you can as frost right now).
