Ive been a long time reader / first time poster of Allakhazam for a few years now and always find it a very useful site to go to for information.
I've been playing my 80 lock now for a while and have average to good armor (half epics, half blues). Ive only ever been affliction as from what ive read this is the best spec for DPS, however lately ive been having my doubts. I will usually put out around 17-1800 DPS on boss fights in heroics / naxx but im sure i could be doing more.
I was doing a Heroic yesterday with another lock in my guild who is specced FG / Emberstorm and he was easily outdpsing me and his armor is probably a little worse than mine. Now i am basing his on the last boss in COS which is a fairly static fight, and i gave it everything i had, with dots and haunt being up at all times and SB being thrown in between.
So i was thikning of re-speccing to FG / Emberstorm to give it a go but having never tried demo or destro i was wondering what Glyphs you would recommend having? and what the standard rotation would be.
I know this has probably been posted a 100 times but i dont have the time to look thorugh all of the other posts as im stuck at work.

for heroics, yes you might do more damage as FG/ES, but that's just because afliction requires more time to get into full swing... also out of curiousity... how're you spec'd (you say afliction but no offence, i've seen some retarded talents/glyphs and rotations from people)

I'd reconmend using this spec, glyphs use siphon life, curse of agony and immolate. rotation ways.. on trash use haunt, corruption, UA and immolate and then SB after that (maybe tab and put these dots on each target).
for bosses:
SB > haunt > siphon life > CoA > corruption > UA > immolate > haunt
after that you're just keeping each dot up, using haunt whenever it's off CD and SB inbetween. once the boss gets to 25% health, swap to drain soul instead of SB, and remove immolate from the rotation. remember though, you don't let DS tick for the full 15 seconds, just let it get in as many ticks as you can before needing to renew any dots/haunt.

im using that exact spec atm and doing that exact rotation. Good shout about DS though, i havent beed using that.
I think ill keep trying with affliction for now and also add those glyphs you've receommend as i think ive still got corruption one on atm.

ahh, yeah the corruption one is a pvp glyph at best... 'tis a tiny dps increase.
