Need help kite healingFollow

I believe I need some help with Holy Pally kite healing. I just have a problem with my party members moving out of range while I am trying to cast a life-saving heal. I know that I have some mobility while healing with Holy Shock, and I do have the talent to make my next FoL instant if the Holy Shock crits, but it just seems like it is not enough. Holy Shock is our most uneconomical heal, and even 30%+ crit, you can't always count on that instant FoL. I also have a problem with losing line of sight while they are moving, but I think that is just practice and being aware of where I am compared to my target.

Can anyone give me some pointers on healing a kiting boss? On one boss (can't remember who) it went ok because I could stay mostly still in the beginning, but I am having a hard time on bosses that have "orbs of death" floating around (like the Heroic VH boss) , where everyone is on the move. Thanks!

Once you know the boss fights and the strategies involved, you can stay ahead of the tank and take the same path he will, only 2 steps quicker.

For VH, I know my tank is going around the top of the platforms and back down the right side, so I stay ahead of him. Holy shock and instant FoLs are great, but you'll never find a boss you need to run full out. You'll have more than enough time to stop and throw out some heals along the way.

I don't know, I never had too much trouble with kited bosses. Some of the experts may have better advice. : )

I'm not a holy pally, but do have a holy priest and the idea is the same whether tanking, healing or dpsing. If you know what the plan/dance is, then there shouldn't be any issues. The breakdown is lack of communication, or like my H VH attempt last night, lack of listening when I said I was gonna kite him up the ramp only to see everyone stay at the bottom, get hit by bubbles and struggle to meet me and the boss up top. If everyone in the party knows where to be/move then there shouldn't be more than a second or two of possible los/range issues during the movement.

-Beacon...will help you as well, keep beacon on your tank and if the rest of the grp is within range, toss them a HL or Fol.
-Judge light on mobs/boss as often as you can, this will help.
-Spam Holy Light, saving your Holy Shock for mobile needs, and the ensuing Fol proc. My instant Fol seems to proc quite often so this has been a very reliable source of a quick heal for me.
-If range is becoming to big of an issue, speak up and let them know to keep an eye out for you.
-Heal at max range, always in range of tank but max, sometimes help with reaching other party members. If your up near the tank and the rest of the "ranged" dps is back of the room, you'll tend to miss heals on them. healing a max range also gives me the chance to take the big picture in and see what else is going on during the fight.

Pallies are't as mobile as some, granted things have changed, but in a 5 man...worry about the tank and you, you shouldn't have to chase after the entire grp seperately.

When I run H-VH I know what my tank is going to do, and tend to watch and follow him when he moves. 10 man...worry about the tank and you, Ok, not really but your heal assignment, use beacon on key party members, judge. Once again if you see someone going down, shout out "range" in chat....it's not just YOUR responsibility to keep in range of others but theirs to keep in range of you as well.

I appreciate all the help! I think it was a lack of communication from all involved, including me. No one said anything, and when the orbs spawned, it seemed like everyone was doing their own strategies. I always keep beacon and shield up, but I think people were moving so far from the tank that Beacon wasn't reflecting back to him. Better luck next time I guess :)

If you are doing VH (or H VH) and Xevozz pops out, have the tank establish aggro and the minute Xevozz starts to summon orbs, have the tank kite Xevozz into the water by the gate. If the tank keeps his back to the gate and is as far into the water as possible, Xevozz is stuck in the water. The orbs are apparently hydrophobic and cease to function normally. As long as everyone avoids touching the orbs in any way, Xevozz becomes a tank & spank against a boss with no armor and weak abilities (with the added bonus that you as the Pally healer can stand still and heal for the entire fight and not have to run around at all).

EDIT:

Supposedly as of the 3.0.8 patch this "tank him in the water" strat no longer works, so try it at your own risk now... I haven't tanked Xevozz since before 3.0.8 went live.
