if anyone has any tricks or tidbits to share, here's a good thread for it.

mine: in looking for a place to top off all my weapon skills i have a found a great place. i was on my was to SL to go beat on the 1st Boss who is banished. it seems they have fixed the "skill up on banished mobs" thing. so that was a no go. on my way out of SL, i see the Cabal spawns that endlessly stream out of of the instance into waiting NPC guards.

prime skill ups. the mobs go straight for the NPCs, so you can whack away without taking aggro. when you finally do take aggro, they are too low of level to hit you. best of all, you dont need to move anywhere. tram rats FTL.

topping off weapon skill is essential for pally. you never know what kind of weapon you'll use next.

I remember there being some tree mobs near the forest's border with the Bones Wastes in Outland that would heal themselves up. I have been told that there are similar mobs in Crystalsong with the same sort of ability that are good for just leaving your toon on autoattack with to skill up.

It's a shame that Judgement of the Light (the debuff on the mob that gives you back health) doesn't last forever anymore. Actually requires you to sit there and look at your screen every 2mins or so =(

Skilling up weapons is in no way difficult or annoying enough to justify tips for doing it.

While this matters little for holy spec, prot and ret need to be able to use any type of wpn(1h for prot/2h for ret of course). But if you just rolled a pally, or have always been 1 spec, its possible you have several hundred points of skillups to get and doing this in the least failpile way is somewhat beneficial, imo.

To 2nd tommy's tip, I used the cabal guys outside of SL before WOTLK to skill up everything to max so i wouldn't have far to go for the expansion. Now i just spec ret every weekend and grab a different type of 2hander to try and max out before the next monday doing quests/heroics. Basically put the time in and don't try and run a WOTLK dungeon with a wpn skill under 350 or your combat log will look like this: parry, parry, glancing, dodge, parry, glancing, etc.

Tom -

Enter heroic VH. Do not start the instance

Grab one of the non-caster mobs and pull it way off to the right or left. Sometimes if it has hit one of the 'defender' guys they will follow you and kill it. If done properly you can pull one up on the top platform (near entrance) then get it to follow you way over to the right or left.

Then just act like you are AOE tanking with a +Heals. Don't judge them, but you can pretty much just stand there and punch them for 5 - 7 minutes. You might have to heal from time to time. But it worked just fine for me. Just be sure to re-equip your main wep. when your group gets there... Haha - I got a /w asking why i was tanking w/o a weapon... Hahah....

In TBC content - go to Shad. Valley - where the infernals drop out of the sky. Wait for the NPCs to pick them up, - then just stand there and punch stuff...

Works great.

Although I am holy all my weapons are capped. It's not hard. There are lots of opportunities to level weapons, e.g. grinding rep in classic or bc areas.
