Any Other Tanks Becoming Cleanse-bots?Follow

Totally not an issue in 25 mans, but with the raid-makeups of 10 mans I've been finding myself instructing other tanks to take on more and more bosses while I cleanse. I eat a marked DPS drop, down to 1200-1500 -- which is still enough to generate the threat needed as a safety-net for the other tank -- but consistently score at the top of cleanse charts.

Now, I've always been a fan of cleansing myself when pure threat production (ie. strict rotations) aren't needed and have always helped healers out extensively in 5 man content with cleanses, but it's not something that's been neccessary in a raid setting before (beyond self-cleanses). If it were just a matter of lazy raiders they could go DIAF, but with some raid makeups it can actually be difficult for casters to keep up on them. Especially so for Diseases it seems.

Is this something other tanks are experiencing?

yeah, any time our 10mans are short a shammy, i end up cleansing(poisons) while MT'ing. Usually have a ret that helps and the 2 of us can take care of most of the situations pretty easily. Basically can only get away with this as threat still isn't much of an issue. And in TBC we had plenty of time to cleanse while tanking as we only had 3 gcds to worry about so i'm used to it.

I find myself Cleansing a lot as well. I've only run 10 mans, so I can't say how it would be in 25 mans for myself, but I've just come to incorporate it as part of my "job description" as a Paly tank. Even in BC I would Cleanse whenever I was able/needed to do so, so it's nothing I'm not used to. I'll probably get flack for it somewhere along the line, but I've never really held a "strict rotation", so fitting in other spells like Cleanse is a non-issue for me. I try to keep my CDs from overlapping and such, but I'm not analy worried about it.

With so few options in my casual guild, as far as who we can bring to a raid, it's often necessary for me to assume a Cleanse role, whether I am tanking the boss or not.

I don't run too many 10-mans these days, but when I do I consider myself a last option for cleansing. Generally speaking, the only reason I'm averse to doing it is because the way my action bars are set up it's an awkward key to reach (ctrl + 6 for me). I'll cleanse myself as needed, but as far as targeting someone else and then making that wrist-twisting reach, I'd just as soon make sure we're leveraging any other option we have.

You could try decursive, it's just a click of the mouse, and it doesn't make you drop your main target.

If there's no shaman in my raid group, yeah, I cleanse a lot while tanking. Maexxna was fun last night.

But I use Grid and Decursive, so I just mouse over the debuffed character's icon and press V. Cleansed without changing targets or resetting my swing timer. Costs nothing but a global cooldown, which I usually have free anyway.

It's not like I have much else to do. I was typing out taunts to Patchwerk while tanking him. I still say he hits like a girl.

I have a mouse-over macro for cleanse bound to one of my thumb mouse buttons, so I just hold it over the unit frame I want in Grid and click for cleansing (While my Druid is fully set up for Grid/Clique healing, my Paladin will never be a healer and has its own UI) so all that I really lose is the GCD, and like I say -- cleansing isn't a foreign concept to me as a tank.

It's just that it's never been neccessary for me to specifically delegate someone else to do what I do, in order to help out the casters in a raid before.
