I've decided to start working my demo lock to 80 and he just cleared 78. I've been doing a lot of WG with him to collect honor for level 80 gear (he'll probably never get to raid since my feral druid main inevitably tanks for the guild, plus, we've got plenty of other main toons that need gear) when I suddenly realized a slight problem - he's a 425 level tailor too and I'll definately be dinging his tailoring to 450.

I tried crunching the PvP honor only gear vs the tailoring stuff and simply ended up frying my brain in the process - any suggestions on which peices to get from each as I cleared 60k honor and I don't want to stop farming it, but I don't want to waste it on an item that could be better filled with a tailored item?

Edit - Guess it helps to actually link the toon http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kargath&n=Bagobonez - yes, I know, his gear sucks and the build is probably lacking too, like I said, its an alt.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but you've mentioned both PvP and raids. If you do plan to do raids with your lock, wouldn't PvP gear be "bad" to raid with? I was under the assumption that PvP gear was ideal for PvP and not raids and the same goes for raid gear in PvP. If you want to PvP, then I'd say yes, get PvP gear. If you want to raid, have alternative gear to swap out to raid in.

My lock is already level 80, but I mainly go solo with him. Rarely do I get the time for a raid or even an instance. That said, when it comes to gear, I equip what I get, if it's better than what I have. Being a tailor (421), I tend to wear items I tailor, but I do have a few items on from quests and instances.

Stating the obvious... if you want to level your tailoring and don't want to "waste" mats to level it, offer your tailoring skills in trade. Hopefully people will tip and offer the mats to make the items they request. If you're lucky, you'll level tailoring that way and if not, the tips should help you purchase mats for things that will, rather than farming them.

My lock's gear isn't likely ideal, nor is his build, but I have a link to him in my sig if you want to see what he uses.

As you said you need to work that talent points a bit better around,54/17/0,0/51/20 are common pvp builds.

PvP gear for pvp ofc,farm honor,play 10 arena games/week,maybe do 10/25 VoA and WG(trink,hood,feet)..
Gear, well until you get arena/honor parts fill those slots with Frostsavage set pieces.

I dont see many full Affliction warlocks in PVP, and for good reasons, because the rotations are complicated. Almost every PVP spec I seen was something like SL/SL. I am going with 21/41/8 right now. The latter suggestion seems better for raiding.

Sorry if I wasn't clear when I said the above - when I said my lock would probably never get to raid, I meant the lock would probably never get to raid and thus never need/get any raid gear, thus my need for PvP/tailoring stuff to trick him out.

OK, not clear again on my part - when I said I didn't want to waste stuff, I was mainly refering to honor points - didn't want to drop 60k on a PvP hat and then discover I can tailor a better one, thus my reason for noting "I cleared 60k honor and I don't want to stop farming it, but I don't want to waste it on an item that could be better filled with a tailored item?"

The lock only does WG (and will stop once he's filled out his slots) so a PvE build is optimal. I've always enjoyed Demo but I'm beginning to give some consideration to switching over to Destro as its looking a bit more fun, but then again, I've got a mage for when the need to nuke crap hits me.

If you are asking if there is a tailored item that is better for PvP then honor/wg/arena/voa then,no.Honor items are better than tailored ones.

I have tried felguard/emberstorm ,very easy going spec.Keep up corr, immo,CoA and spam Incinerate in between.
meta/ruin ,also nice build, you got meta as trinket
aff, keeping all dots and 2stacks of shadow embrace (through haunt and shadowbolt) can be complicated but this spec does great damage.
destro, ive tried it with emp imp, also with new conf glyph (spell does not consume Immolate spell if glyphed)it is really fun.

And I don't see any reason why you don't do 10/25 VoA after WG,on my realm at least, after WG it's normal to form few raids to do VoA.
It takes 15-20min max and you can get lucky (like I did) and get few pieces in one drop.

There are no other pvp specs other then haunt/sl ,meta/destro and destro/soul-link viable atm.
21/41/8 ? 15% less drains, shadow dmg,no CoEx to kite,no extra debuff from shadow embrace to get your drains higher in order to get bane and molten core? How could that be better for pvp ?
