I've been leveling my DK for a while now and have run into the question of "Is Mark of blood useful and/or nessesary for ether leveling or raiding?". My knee-jerk response is yes if for no other reason than to help healers in instances and or raids.

With that being said, am I right? or should I just put it away and leave it by the wayside to be buffed and specced into later?

Do you NEED it? No. Does it help? Yes.

I have dropped it, as well as blood aura, in my current raiding spec. Last raid I did 5007 dps on patchwerk, I made these changes and picked up blood worms just as a test to see if I could get my dps even higher. We have really good healers though, and if your healers kinda suck, they might like the help.

From a DpS standpoint, I would probably drop it.

But, if you like having the utility of helping keep everyone alive, it is pleasant.

It COULD be the difference between dowing a boss or a wipe...

I'd say take it for progression builds, but drop it when the instance is on farm.

For leveling and PvP, it's one of the best talents in the game.

Honestly, just go for it if you aren't sure. If you feel like it is unnecessary or you don't have to use it enough for it to matter, drop it for something else.

Why would he need to?

The thread is about Mark of Blood.

I understand that you're a whiny little ***** when someone appears to know more about something than you, but downrating me for giving sound advice pertinent to the thread?

You're a ******* moron.

Yeah, and he answered the question. What exactly is the problem with ALSO mentioning PvP?

He clearly said it was good for leveling. Maybe the PvP info wasn't asked for, but who the f*** cares, it was helpful.

I'd suggest an eye check, Dilbrt.

Being a **** is cool sometimes, but not when you miss something that glaringly obvious.

For a short time, I took Mark of Blood in a Blood tanking spec. I didn't like it. Often enough, on just about every single-target melee boss, its timer ran out with 15+ left on the buff. Other times on AoE bosses, especially Sapphiron and KT, it ran out in about 5 seconds and gave me almost nothing.

For PvP though. Wow. I'm DW spec right now, but I went into WG and found a Blood DK trying to run away. I put up diseases, he puts Mark of Blood on me, and I simply could not out-damage my own healing of him. I gave up and ran when I saw reinforcements incoming. Didn't make it out alive.
