He sold his soul for a shield...Follow

...and I got the Last Laugh! Muahaha!

Just have to share this little story.

Running Naxx with the guild, our main warrior tank had been expressing his desire for the shield that drops off of heroic Patchwerk. Several Patchwerk kills later it finally drops, and being the good sport I am I decide to pass on it and make life for the loot council easy. It's nifty looking and was a slight upgrade over my Titansteel Shield Wall, but not exactly a make-or-break acquisition.

Warrior thanks me profusely and sincerely, and I commented that it was np, and when Kel'Thuzad drops the axe, it's MINE!! Mwahaha! I meant it mostly jokingly, but hey...best in slot tanking weapon currently in the game, I'll leverage whatever I can get (short of being a right selfish **** about it) to see it land in my bags asap.

The following week, we down Patchwerk again and oohhh...look! It's the shield again! As the only other full time tank in the guild, it goes to me. I promptly named it Goatface, because it looks like it would eat anything. (Not that I'm one to name gear pieces, but it was a bit of harmless whimsy).

Before last week's reset, our guild scored our first heroic Kel'Thuzad kill. Bunch of drops that were of no real interest to me (although I did get my T7.5 helm from it). No axe, though. Boo.

Downed Kel'Thuzad again tonight...and he drops mah axe! MOINE! Mwahaha! And the warrior kept his word and passed :D

So yay for roflstomping tier 7 tank weapon goodness that will last me well into Ulduar. Makes me glad I put in the time to cap my 1h axe skill at 400 a couple of weeks ago.

And now, sitting in the bank next to my Titansteel Bonecrusher is my Slayer of the Lifeless, which I got a couple of hours before a Red Sword of COurage dropped in my bags. Neat looking weapons, those tank swords. But the axe just makes me happy :D

Gratz man, glad to hear your success :D

Maybe I'll be able to log in at the right time one of these days to score a decent 25man group for my own shot at that beauty :)
