Swords or Daggers?Follow

I'm trying to rationalize my decision to stay Mutilate. Currently, my weapons are Torment of the Banished/Hailstorm or Titansteel Shanker/Rolfsen's Ripper. Spreadsheet is showing me 3200 dps with daggers (normally I pull about 2500, and I turned off all the buffs that I don't get in a guild run) and about 2700 with the swords... It seems a little low considering my two daggers aren't very good and Hailstorm is the best offhand in the game.
Soo... Should I go with the spreadsheet and hope for some daggers once we start Naxx25, or just give swords a try? Currently, I'm feeling like hell it's only 100g to spec and then spec back if swords suck, and the spreadsheet numbers seem unrealistic.

Also, I want to clear up a few things... My priorities as Mut are HFB, TotT on the top DPS, S&D, rupture and then subbing envenoms to keep S&D up if rupture is still up (preferably 5 cp, but 4 if ruthlessness doesn't proc and neither mut crits) and my rotation as combat is 2s/5r. Correct?

This.

Mutilate priorities are HfB > SnD > Rupture. TotT on tank to get an early start, then on top dps.

Combat rotations can vary with gear, glyphs, talents. Try out variations on a target dummy.

Good luck!

You also generally want two fast daggers in both hands as opposed to two slow ones, for more poison damage. If you can afford them grab a pair of Librarians Paper Cutters or, failing those, a pair of the Kirin Tor revered daggers and try those on for size.

Two fast daggers for mutilate PVE. Two slow daggers for mutilate PVP. High average main-hand and fast off-hand for combat.

I use Titansteel Shanker MH and LBC OH for PVP and PVE currently...would I be better using LR or TFK in place of the LBC OH for PvP mutilate? I'm assuming the flensing knife..but I'm a nub!

EDIT: Right now the LBC has mongoose while the other OH's have +50 AP.

Thank you!

Yeah, I stated that by saying that my daggers aren't too great. The stats on them are fine, but the speeds make them pretty ******.

... ThomasMagnum, why don't you just use a spreadsheet or check the MAEP of the weapons on Shadowpanther. Two LPCs are better than everything in offhand except Omen of Ruin, Sinister Revenge, Deadly Gladiator's Shiv, Murder and Webbed Death. For mainhand, LPC is better than everything except Murder and Webbed Death.

As for PvP, LPCs SUCK. Flensing Knife is much better.

I did check the spreadsheet, dps goes from 3572 to 3552 when I switch out the titansteel shanker for a LBC, both with mongoose...that's why I've been using that main hand. I was mainly asking for the OH PvP preference, which you answered :)
