Soloing raid contentFollow

There is an interesting thread on the paladin forum about soloing dungeons and raids, old-world and into TBC content.

I'm keen on trying to give this kind of thing a go, not only for the goodies I'll get for disenchanting the drops but also to get some coins of ancestry!

It got me thinking, which class would be better suited for this purpose, a feral druid or prot pally...

Thoughts?

there are no instance/raids in TBC content that are done to get coins of ancestry. that said, all of the old world stuff I did in my sleep as boomkin, so spec shouldn't matter at all, as resto would be able to do it as well I am sure.

If you're interested in doing some TBC heroics for the sake of it I have soloed heroic Sethek as feral just to try to get the mount, and I am by no means geared in the feral department, so that shouldn't be too bad.

And for a comparison with prot apllies and feral druids I don't really have any experience in that matter ><

How much I like my Bear, my bet would be on the Protection Paladin. While they are both able to go a long way, the paladin has a few options that are golden for soloing (bubble heal, lay on hands, ability to heal while in plate and shield come to mind) and will be - in my opinion - able to solo more than the Bear.

No experience for me beyond vanilla with this though.

Edited for spelling.

I'd say paladin too. I enjoy soloing old content on my feral druid, and I have a lot of success doing so (my daily Anzu kill, for example) but I know I'm limited when it comes to healing. If the boss gives me breaks (like Anzu or Ikiss in Sethekk) then I can manage pretty well, but trying to heal during the fight always end up with catastrophic results - I'm taking massive crits that are bigger than what I'm healing myself for.

Being able to stealth, though, is a huge bonus. And when my level of gear is higher and allows me to kill those bosses, then I'm confident I can do it faster than any other class :)

I think it highly depends. My druid is an awesome soloing machine; I've soloed every classic and BC 5-man dungeon (normal modes). I've soloed Onyxia (but that's lolez). I've soloed a couple of bosses in ZG (hello Bloodlord). I'm planning on trying some MC bosses at some point, or at least trash (their massive HP is the only thing making me wonder...). A Paladin can do well at some other bosses; I know they can solo Garr in MC, or some ZG bosses. But I still think they'd be limited in a couple of fights.

Meh, try soloing what you want, and look up strategies. I soloed almost every 5-man quest in Icecrown outside Valhallas (riders, corpulus (sp?), Bloodbane, Scarlet Onslaught guys). If I can do it, anyone should be able to.

A feral might not be able to do any healing mid-fight beyond converting rage to health and drinking a single pot, but we've got our barkskin once a minute, survival instincts and probably 50% more armor and 100% more health then the average pally, so I think its fair to say that things even out. Additionally, I'm pretty sure that a feral bear can out dps a prot pally, thus meaning shorter fights and of course being able to stealth through content as a cat means fewer fights and thus a faster overall run.
