2 Feral or Feral+Balance for PVEFollow

My friend just recently joined WoW and we have decided to play 2 druids. He is going up the Feral tree and I am interested in being a Boomkin. What would be better doing quests, 2 Ferals or a Feral+Balance. If 2 Ferals are better, at what level can I flip over to Boomkin?

I was going to be a mage and still might when we hit level 20 (my mage's level) but I can see an advantage to having us both having heals and stealth.

We just leveled to 10 Friday night and got our bear forms but have not spent our 1st Talent point yet so I wanted to see what experienced druids thought would be better duos for PVE questing:

2 druids - both Feral
2 druids - 1 Feral and 1 Boomkin
1 druid Feral and 1 mage (probably Fire spec)

The classic duo is tank and healer.

Anything works though.

My own poopheaded opinion, but I leveled up as feral as most druids do and I ran into almost nothing that was too hard for me to tackle. I'd have to say feral/feral is the fastest way to go

A feral/boomkin would be very efficient. However, I dont really see anything that a feral/feral couldn't take down (elite/group quest-wise), that a feral/boomkin duo could. Grinding would be a bit faster in an ideal world with two ferals simply because they are just soooo good.

But you could both spec tardo and probably never have to worry about downtime. I'd just spec into whatever you enjoy and you will do just fine. Druid solo leveling is one of the fastest, and with two it is just that much easier. Just have fun =)

Basically get to 40-ish as both feral. One of you, probably you, keep some caster gear for some healing and whatnot. From then on try Balance out though be prepared to be called on to heal for the occasional dungeon. As far as endgame stuff, knowing you have the +5 percent critical buff from a feral and balance druid always is not too shabby.

For just duoing quests you can't go wrong with two feral druids. It's already easy enough to solo your way up as feral, having two people makes questing both ridiculously easy and more enjoyable.

One advantage to playing different specs, once you reach raid levels, is that you won't be going for the same gear, which makes it a bit easier to get you both geared up at a reasonable pace.

I would go Feral/Balance!

Cause u have a little more survivability. PvE and PvP whise.
Balance can heal pretty good, which is certainly needed often.

And it's easier to find instance-groups for Feral/Balance than Feral/Feral!

Another consideration is the loot that drops.

If you get some leather item with +strength, you'll both want it if you're both feral. But if a leather item drops with +spirit or something, then you'd be more apt to get it.

Good luck & have fun! I envy people just starting out...

I would also suggest Feral/Feral until 40 and Feral/Balance from there on.

Basically there is indeed nothing that would stand in the way of 2 Ferals, but like ParaThor said, gear drops might become problematic whereas Feral/Balance is free of that problem. Also, that way there's always someone more able to tank and another more able to kite, so dealing with specific situations may be easier overall. And while being Balance doesn't really make you a better healer, you will have more caster stats on your gear so it will definitely be a plus.

I'm with Selverein. Once you hit 40, one should go balance purely for loot reasons. And a bear with a healer (even balance specced) combo can duo almost any quest in the game except perhaps some of the hard 5-man quests. And down-time is not too bad as well as you have 2 innervates for the BattleTurkey.

OMG Rarebeast is a sage now =O I really need to get on these boards more often, I remember when we had the same post count *sniff*

Anyways it really depends on if you are going to be doing instances or not. Obviously if you don't plan on doing any instances then gear wont be to much of a problem. However on another note you said you were considering a mage. If you like spellcasting then go ahead and go balance. When you go OOM you wouldn't even need to drink, just get a double innervate and dps in catform for a minute or two until your mana is filled up.

Feral/Feral till 40.

It's been said millions of times. Feral is faster. once you are lvl 40 then you can get all the cool toys that make playing a turky fun and efficiant (sp?). If you hate the rougeish play style then to hell with it go get your local druid trainer some gold and respecc into something you like.
