Glyph of Mend Pet - Broken?Follow

I'm not seeing any increase in happiness in the combat log when I cast Mend Pet. I know for certain that the notification was there a couple weeks ago, when I installed the glyph. The combat log now shows the pet gaining, then losing Mend Pet, with no Happiness adjustment in between.

Anyone else seeing anything similar?

If your pet is at maximum happiness he won't gain any more. Could that be it? It still works fine for me.

I get that, it goes away when I re-log.

Also, the glyph seems flakey if mend pet isn't actually healing any damage.

What I have read (somewhere, I'm sorry I don't remember where) is that the Mend Pet glyph is a little buggy when combined with one point of Improved Mend pet--certainly it hasn't been working at all for me, and that's what I have at the moment. It worked fine when I was Survival spec so with no points it's not a problem--I have no idea if it works at all when you have two points spent.

The dispel is too nice not to have, though, so I'm looking into replacing the glyph rather than speccing so it works.

It does sometimes take several heals to see an increase in pet happiness, which... if not in battle, is easy enough. I can't *guarantee* this, but it seems to add a bit more happiness with each casting, rather than each tic. I normally just switch to viper, then spam a few heals, and the wee pet gets all chipper in no time!

This indicates 1 of 3 possible bits of information:
1) it doesn't fire all the time, but spamming heal rather than logging out can resolve the issue.
2) it generates a bit of happiness with each casting, and sometimes, that just isn't enough to equal instant happy, so cast again.
3) the game has a built in "gets pissy over spammers so gives them what they want" overflow written in to the code.

Whichever it happens to be, it works!

Mine works when my pet is at full health, and all the time, perfectly.

When you cast Mend Pet, your pet instantly gains 20 happiness. Only when you cast it. The ticks do nothing.

The ticks should do something. If they're not, something is wrong.

Since I've had this glyph (pretty much since the glyph came out), I've only ever seen it add 20 happiness, once. No repeated happiness, no ticks, nothing. Just a single 20 happiness noted in the log. I don't know if this is how it is supposed to function or not.

I'm convinced that this is a bug. When I first added the glyph, I had fun playing with it, flashing heals on the cat and watching happiness proc on (every? most? some? I forget) tick. When cat was fully happy, it said, "Leo gains 0 happiness from Dt's Mend Pet" or some such.

Now I see nothing, ever, not even after spamming heal or re-logging.

I call broken.

Well, you two ARE wrong, as the ticks do in fact grant 20 happiness each, as shown.

EDIT: These are at full pet health as well.

I do not, repeat, do not mean to put anyone down. I am just curious, but why do you even get the mend pet glyph? My pet is always happy with the bloodthirsty talent for ferocity. And tenacity has guard dog (though I admit I've only ever been ferocity so I don't know much about these other trees)

Well, most of the other minor Hunter glyphs suck pretty thoroughly. Glyph of Possessed Strength, anyone?

Also, it's quite handy to have a tool for restoring a pet's happiness quickly during combat--for instance, if you have to rez your pet during a fight you can't feed it since you're in combat, and you can't send it in to attack right away since its health is low. You have to use mend pet anyway to get it back up to full health, why not boost its happiness too and guarantee that as soon as you're able to send it back in, it will be doing full damage?

I'm sorry, but I have consistently checked to see just how much "a little happiness" is with this glyph.
And I can assure you that I have NEVER gotten ANY repeat happiness increases on tick.
Only a single, one-time, "pet gains 20 happiness" message in the log.

I've checked this since I first installed (is that what we do with glyphs? install them?) the glyph.

Apparently, there ARE people with different experiences from your own.
Please respect that.

I am fully aware of that, and was saying that the Glyph appeared to be functioning normally for me. You can think what you want, I don't care to attack you.
