how did you make it to level 71 without training in daggers or swords? you only used staves?

I am not so sure there will be anything that is much better than a staff anyway but all you had to do was ask a guard in a main town and they would show you where the weapon master was and if that weapon master cannot train you then they can tell you where to go.

I am amazed just how many times i see shouts of hey where do i find ( insert a question a guard will answer here ) i see it almost every time i am in a main town and always tell them to ask a guard .

Hehe on a side point why google when a guard will answer the question ?

of course there are weapons that are better than staves. Tempest of Chaos (in BC), Turning Tide, Life and Death, The Soulblade just to name a few.

I recently wanted to obtain the Armsmaster Achievement for my 80 Mage. What I did was this:

1. Go to your starting area and get a cheap starting sword/dagger/staff or what ever combination of weapons you want to train in.
2. Go to an area with mobs significantly lower than you but not to high - in my case level 20 mobs.
3. Put up your shield (as Frost Spec I use Ice Barrier) and whack away - the damage you do will be minimal and the number of swings to kill that mob will be very high.
4. When the shield is about to drop, re-apply and continue whacking.

At the end I was whacking on level 60 mobs with a level 10 weapon and the fights could last as much as 7 minutes - that's right, MINUTES. Especially that last 399-400 point took SEVERAL of those fights.

I now proudly claim 400 level skill in all available Mage weapons. Took a couple days .....

By the way - one reason for the cheap weapons is continual use WILL wear them out - so you want the repair bill to be as low as possible as well.

Edit: p.s. Did this with Unarmed as well for the "Knuckle Sandwich" Achievement
