I thought they reverted Pyromaniac to a percentage cost decrease instead of an Arcane Meditation type effect. Did they hotfix it back? Is it a bug? Have I just not been paying enough attention?

People still raid as fire/frostfire?

I never heard that they got rid of the meditation effect.

This a good question.

I dont know what happened but I went from Constantly 4k to only 4k on Fights like Loatheb and Patchwerk. Arcane is sucking wind for me now. I used to get more than 4k on Loatheb as FFB, throughout Naxx my DPS was higher - in some instances even in 10man - over what I was pulling tonight.

I didn't notice the Arcane "hotfix" as bad in 10man, but in these 25mans I didn't top the chart once. In fact, some Mage in Greens/Blues (litterally only his Offhand was Epic) rolled through trailing my DPS only slightly (~3700 to ~3200) on several occasions.

What the hell am I doing so wrong?!

I tried mid-raid to use Molten/Glyph and that left my DPS even further down the charts than the Mage/Glyph I'm currently using.

Loatheb is a terrible fight to compare with because of the crit modifier. Frostfire will blow every single spec away on loatheb because it has a 337% (after glyphs/spec/gems/t74pc) crit modifier while arcane gets about half that. Arcane wins in fast fights (4 minutes or less) when you can pop your cooldowns twice you will do fine. Maybe you weren't blowing through your mana fast enough, going into a burn cycle? Were you ending fights with a lot of mana or just about to go oom? At the end of fights I spam AB (and use mbam-abar if it procs) to go oom right when the boss dies.

And there is no reason that you should be being beaten by a person in greens/blues unless they are just an extremely talented (or some bs) mage that got incredible RNG or something, it's just mathematically improbable.

Unless, of course, you spend most of the fight dead. Smiley: laugh

Ok I posted that after doing consistantly bad in 25M Naxx and then, on Patchwerk, getting horrible DPS. After that, though, I landed on top in 2 Fights. I guess the RNG is being nasty tonight.

I got a few quick questions.

I tried Molten over Mage, I dont like it - and my DPS "I THINK" goes down. Its really hard to tell with so much crap going on, and then on Dummies those numbers hardly matter at all.

Do you guys use 25SP 2% Int/-Threat, or 28Crit 3%CritDmg Meta? I considered them almost equal, and ended up taking the SP simply for the fact that its much much easier to Gem for.

I wish there were some straight answers out right now... even with a few small successes in Naxx tonight I'm about to just go back to FFB.

On the Plus side, as Arcane I just DOMINATED a Heroic AN... 2900 sustained DPS next to 2k Boomkin =D

Chaotic Skyflare ONRY!

It's 150 DPS for me according to Rawr.

Haha Poldaran you're Fire or FFB or SOMETHIN! Of course when I was FFB I had the Choatic Skyflare.

I'm talkin' about for Arcane. SP goes a long way. And even though I like seeing 13k Crits, I'd rather see those constant 5k normal hits go up a bit more.

BTW what is ONRY? =P~

OMG I should be sleeping.

Ok I played with Rawr for like 3 hours.

Apparently even Rawr cannot make up its mind about the Mage armor VS Molten. On a 4:30 fight, in my current gear, the difference between the two is 6.8 DPS in favor of Molten.

This change, however, DRASTICALLY alters the priorities on items that Rawr tells you to get. With Molten, Spirit is still frequently found on items but not to the degree of Mage Armor.

While I generally just automatically follow Rawr like a robot, I think I'll actually take the Mage Armor route for now and sacrifice the 6.8 DPS. The ability to control my Mana pool was the whole reason I got into this whole gig~

Now if only I could get my hands on the Turning Tide... Hello 160 free DPS =P~

Some people like what they like and not the flavor of the month.

As for Turning Tide, she with the most dkp wins and I have not spent a single point yet. :)

Ok, Anobix is arcane and Rawr still says CSD is the better choice for him. So...

CSD - Always.

I still use mage unless it is a short fight at least right now until I get my burn phases down etc. If I have the mana regen next week (and I don't have to respec to ffb because two mages don't show up) then I will try Molten on some fights and report back.

Then again, until you get the rotations down and are used to the spec (no matter what spec) it is going to take a bit of getting used to, be it the change in range, movement, hitting the procs, etc. I assume that your guildies weren't terribads not keeping u TC/Frostfever/Infected Wounds on the target for your necessary slowing effect?

lol Yayayayaya I know!!

I already socketed and regemmed for the CSD. Fun fact. Boosted DPS about 60, but -9 since I had to replace a straight red with a Purp D=

More fun facts?

CSD's Crit Amplification is so powerful, that Rawr suggested I get the +AGI +CritDmg one before using the 28SP...

HAHA!!

Rawr basically just called me a nubtard =D
