quick question on specFollow

#1 Jan 28 2009 at 2:52 PM Rating: Decent
Right now i'm level 44 specced Feral (cat mostly), but after looking over the balance tree and Moonkin I'm questioning balance's power. Mostly i only do instances with a friend (shadow priest). As feral i always top the Damage meter which i'm loving! I probably shouldn't be to excited though it's only level 44 dungeons. Anyways my question would be what are your opinions on Cat v/s Boomkin DPS.

My opinion? Try 'em all out. The ability to switch up is why druids rock. Between 70 and 80, I spent 6 levels as feral, 2 as moonkin, and 1 as resto just to keep my skills up and try out the new talents.

Stockpile gear for alternate specs if you can (while not taking it from people who need it more for their main specs), and re-spec whenever you get the urge. If you have to run a few instances in sub-par gear, it probably won't matter all that much anyway.

Running as feral/tank helps you appreciate the job of a healer much more, and vice-versa. Druids are in a unique position to be on both sides of that one.

Moonkin/balance is fun, and very reasonable for PvE content. You should try it out for sure. Playing moonkin for PvP will teach you things about kiting and rooting that you don't necessarily learn as feral, but will nonetheless help out your feral game as well.

So yeah. Do it! If even just for a few levels.

There has been debate on what does more dps either cat or boomkin. I'm a boomkin so I'm bias and will say balance :D but honestly like it was said before try them both out. DPS is really only a measure of how good your gear is. True talent in raiding is doing what you need to do, not getting hit, getting to point b from point a w/o causing your raid to wipe.

So, try them both out. Learn all the trees as best as you can because being able to fill any role needed is a very good quality.

One thing I feel should be mentioned: You're 44, thus still in the Old World. Gear with +SpellDmg is very scarce so his spells are doing little more than their base damage. Once you get to 60+, in BC where there is +SpellDmg, you might notice a change. Of course that's when you start getting a lot of FAP, but you'll get a better idea when you're there.
