Healing formulaFollow

Used to heal on a resto shammy and I found my problem is looking at stats on gear and deciding which stats to give up for others. Now im leveling a paladin and I dont have a problem with ret stats, but as I level it's getting harder for me to decide what healing gear to give up. Now as dumb as this sounds I used to use this formula on my shammy:

"I always use a little formula (roughly based on StatMods for items) to see which item is best for me.

Stamina = 1 point per 1 Stam
Intellect = 1 point per 1 Int
+Healing = 1 point per 1+Healing.
Mp5 = 5 points per 1mp5
All other stats have 0 value.

Now you simply add up all the points an item gets and the higher the score, the better an item is."

I was wondering if there is something like that for a holy paladin and if not could someone make one?

Personally, on this site's Upgrades section, I use 1 for Int, Crit, Spell Power, and Haste, and 0.5 for MP5.

MP5 is not a good stat anymore, while Crit and Haste are awesome.

While I was leveling, a simple ballpark rule that worked well for me was:
1 "point" = 3 Int = 4 mp5 = 6 SP = 6 crit = 9 haste

For level-capped toons, I find that (once you get over something of a learning curve in how to tune things properly) the application "rawr" works very well for me. It takes your current gear, expected raid composition, and healing philosophy (i.e. beacon/HS usage patterns, FoL/HL percentage, glyphs you use) into account when suggesting upgrades.

The latest upgrade also introduced stat weighting into the healadin module. For example, for my current gear (Naxx-10, with a SV hunter providing high replenishment uptime), it suggests that:
1 int = 3.00 points
1 mp5 = 2.53
1 sp = 1.17
1 crit = 0.91
1 haste = 0.69

Whereas if I tune it for heroics, most stats stay the same, but haste becomes twice as valuable, and mp5 a little more than half as valuable - just like I'd expect.

i dont see how you can hardcode values to all these stats. for instance: if your mana never drops below 50% then mp5 is worth a big fat 0. if you never get hit, stam is worth 0.

This is just for a reference as i'm leveling, so I can decide what healing gear to pick when comparing it to other gear. Yes,I do agree with you in certain situations you need some stats more than others. As soon as I hit 80 i'll fine tune the gear to meet naxx requirements and go from there.
