Help and suggestions needed.Follow

Back in the Bc days figuring out my gear and spec was easy. with the release of Wrath It seems a lot harder to get my gear correct. I went from T5 to blues and back into epics again but now it seems some of the blues I had on are better then the epics I am not sporting. My dps only seems to change marginally or even drop. I am watching recount and it seems i can pull up to 2600 dps on a trash mob at the start of say UP but by the time I get to a boss it drops to anywhere from 1300-1600. Sustained averages 1500-1600. It seems no matter what I change I can not raise it. If someone could take a look and maybe make suggestion on enchants, gems or anything else it would be greatly appreciated. I am currently using SS S/D and Rupture in my rotation with fan of knives when needed in trash pulls but it seems like i am only going in circles. Also any suggestions for mods I have tried a couple but not noticing anything special about them lol.
Here is my armory link and thanks in advance constructive crit is welcome lol.

Well biggest thing would be to focus on one type of weapon. So since fists and daggers both share a talent I would try to get an OH dagger. Aside from that just make sure you are consistent with your DPS, find a point and try to stick to it. It can be tough but with combat you should be doing fine on trash and bosses.

Other than that read the new elitist jerks for WOTLK and read the rogue sticky FAQ, both will help a ton.

SPREADSHEET! had to get it in there.

My Dk is a blacksmith so i made the titansteel shanker to go with Greed and my dps dropped to around 1200. I do have Reaper of Dark Souls for my main hand. I will switch back to that once the server come back up. In another day or so I should also have my T7 chest piece. According to the charts my gloves are actually better then the T7 for some reason so I am going to get the chest first.

The Titansteel shanker isn't that great of a weapon. Tbh, the LPC is one of the better daggers in the game and doesn't cost that much. I personally use a MH Fist and an OH sword. I saw a great increase in dps with this spec compared to a dagger OH. So, I don't think it is a big deal to have a dual weapon spec.

I did notice that you didn't put any points in CQC for more damage from your fist weapon. Any reason why? I just glanced at your spec, but I am sure there are points that you put in something that you could toss into it. Only need 2 or 3.

The easiest way to tell if certain gear is an actual upgrade of you or not is to check out Shadowpanter. It has the MAEP ratings of everything in the game.

I just did a respec the other day then was lucky enough to get the drop for Greed and thought I would try it to see if there was a change and it was just a minor increase with my current spec. I have the spreadsheet from shadowpanther saved and have been trying to go by it as well. I just logged in and took my other main hand out of the bank and also grabbed the trollwoven shoulders I had in there as well. My only concern about using some of the stuff is losing my hit rating. I had my hit at around 360+ but when I put the epics on it dropped to the current rating. Everyone says hit rating hit rating but the gear that is supposed to be better doesnt center around hit rating it seems. The daily H is gundrak and I still have my flask ticking away so once one of th guild tanks get online I am going to switch back to my sword and try the trollwoven shoulders and see what happens.

Hit rating right now is one of the stats that have some of the top rogue theorycrafters scratching their heads. Some say there is a magic number to get to, and others say that it isn't needed. I personally want to get to around 350 hit as combat and see how my dps works. If it isn't a big increase as I am moving up the hit latter then I will re-gem some of my gear.

I haven't looked at the math and reasoning behind Serrated blades but I would have a hard time spending 5 points in crap talents to get it. I'd rather spend those 8 points in ruthlessness and lethality. Again that's just me and I haven't seen the math behind it yet. Opportunity, sleight of hand and camo are just garbage.

Also go with sword/sword or fist/dagger. If swords take sword spec. If fist/dagger take close quarters. The OCD in me hates splitting between the two. Take one or the other depending on upgrades and what's available.

Yeah that kinda had me wondering as well. I was trying to find the best comat spec and pulled that one from Elitist http://elitistjerks.com/f78/t37183-pocket_guide_wotlk/ I figured if they suggested it it must have its valid points and yes my dps did go up then I switched my blues out for epics and tada it dropped back down putting me back to square one again and scratching my head lol. I am still waiting for a guild tank to come online and we have a group formed cept for the tank lol then I will load my rogue switch Greed for my other sword and try it again.

Make sure your weapon skills are maxed. That could be the difference when switching to a different type.

To maximize trash dps, try combining tricks of the trade, blade flurry, and killing spree at every opportunity.

+trinket

Also once you hit killing spree you can't use any other abilities so hit it last.

While leveling I'm specced with unfair advantage (not an end game talent). In some cases, depending on tank, etc, I would actually avoid using Tricks and just go full out while popping evasion. Once the effect was gone I'd pop a vanish and then use tricks if I needed.

Well tonight we ran 5 heroics and I was lucky enough to get the leggings in gundrak and enough badges for my T7 chest. I tried using the Reaper of Dark Souls in my main and switched to Greed to check dps. My dps was higher with Greed. We ran H Nexus for some fast badges and my dps with the new legging and chest was 1776 with occasional spikes around 2300. I also replaced all the gems with +16 hit. This might be a stupid question but why do sites like wow heroes say I am ready for 25 mans yet my true dps says I am not?

Most of those type of sites use item level rather than actual stats in their "calculations". Basically they're complete crap... worse than useless imo.

You'll need to consult the spreadsheet for the definitive answer to this but with those gloves, I'd be tempted to forego the T7 chest and take the one you get from Ebon Blade at exalted. Greed + LPC is a good combo, so long as you swap the sword talent for close quarters combat.

As for serrated blades, 30% on rupture is very nice - I know I keep rupture up almost constantly on bosses.

Atorious, I think you're ready for raids even if you don't. Have a go at 25-man VoA and see how much your dps will increase just from the buffs you get - it's amazing.

From some quick research it looks like the dps is about the same with the serrated blade build vs the rest in the *** tree. The only problem I have is taking the crappy sub talents to reach it. My OCD won't allow it so personally I'll stick to ***. *cough*

After playing around a bit with my spec taking a mighty agility pot and poached northern sculpin food buff my dps on a test dummy averaged around 1800-1850. There where no other buffs on me. I am figuring well over 2000 with raid buffs. I will not know 100% for sure till we do Nax 25 monday night. I also was lucky enough to pick up librarians paper cutter tonight in HOL so im sending it to my hunter to enchant. As for the enchant I am not sure what I am putting on it yet lol. I am still searching for more hit rating im at 309 now with 3343 ap and 31.32% crit most of the crit came from the respec. Lets see what monday brings during the raid.

You can buy another paper cutter off the AH for cheap.

Woot After a getting in a pug for OS 25 and watching my meter in Fubar not recount I was averaging 3k plus raid buffed and also got the shoulder drop woot. My guild also played around in BT last night just for kicks and I was #1 in dps for a change. Thanks for the pointers and thanks for the encouragement Leodis. Of course I am still looking for better gear but it will come in time :) .
