My gear is a little messy, I have some plus hit items becasue they were upgrades and have not been able to replace them yet.

I am looking for advice on gemming, I have been using +spirit, +int and +sp depending on the slot color.

Do you use something different, if so, why?

I'm Holy, so Spirit is still my friend. I tend to use SP+Spi or SP+Int. If the socket bonus isn't great, I ignore it.

Gems are constantly changing for me. It really boils down to balance and your play style. Depending on how you play and what gear you have.

For me right now with the gear I have, I've socketed a lot(granted I only have like 4 sockets) of pure +int gems for a larger mana pool.

Since my mana pool is at a comfortable level (roughly about 15k-16k unbuffed) as I get more gear that increases my mana, I will probably switch out those +Int gems for some +sp/+spi gems.

So it's really up for you to decide how you need to gem, there isn't exactly a right or wrong answer to this question for healers (as long as you make an intelligent decision about it, IE you get slapped if you gem for +agi).

Spirit, intellect and spell power are all good if you're a holy priest. Spirit for blue and spell power for red (or mixed orange/purple/green gems involving these stats) are the only obvious choices. For yellow there is also haste if you feel you have plenty of mana or resilience for pvp. Not sure you'd choose crit over intellect? Intellect should probably be the first choice for pve though, it increases crit, mana regen and there are certain abilities/buffs, shadowfiend for exmaple, that give mana back as a percentage of your total mana.

As disc I gem a little for int and mostly for spellpower. My mana pool is a rocking 18k now unbuffed and I rarely have to drink these days. Yesterday I successfully healed an entire heroic drinking only twice. As a rule I think it depends on where you feel you weak spots are. Gem for what you need. I would say spirit (also increases spellpower for holy spec) spellpower or intellect or a combination of the above. Teacake has it spot on as usual.
