New to mage, question about addonsFollow

#1 Jan 26 2009 at 10:23 AM Rating: Decent
Hey all, let me give a little background on me first. A friend of mine got deployed to iraq, and gave me his account. I had never played a mage before, and only knew what i had learned from raiding with them, and battlegrounds etc. Man did i suck...
Anyways, i decided to level the mage to 80 after i got my main there, and was hoping i would pick up the gist of it, which i think i did. I leveled as frost(Fun!)and now that my guild is doing naxx runs with alts, i decided to take my mage in. I respecced to FFB(thanks for your useful thread anobix)and didnt do too bad, 2nd in damage and dps after the run.

Now for my question. Is there any addons you all can recommend, that alert you when "proc" spells are active, or just mage addons in general? I didnt notice hot streak at all until i was herbing this morning, and i felt like it would have added some nice damage on my naxx run, had i been using it.

Thanks in advance.

Excellent addons:

MSBT/Parrot/SCT (one of the three for a scrolling battle text -- you can make it so it comes up in big letters to use it)

powerauras - puts a picture around your character on a defined buff/debuff/etc

classtimers - good timers for most classes

scorchio2 (I loved this for reminding me to keep scorch and living bomb applied, it also synced with the other mage's scorches so that I didn't reapply it when it had like 25 seconds left on it).

together those should all work really well. If you want a different buff panel either try Buffalo (I use this, think a more configurable/movable blizz-standard buff icon) or Elk's buff bars (bars that decrease).

Thanks Anobix, ill check those out when i get home. I have sct, but i dont know how to make it show things like that. Do i have to "define" it somewhere?

edit: Oh ya man, im loving the spec you put in that thread for better blizzarding :) my bliz is still rocking the house :)
