Baptism of Fire as a Naxx HealerFollow

My guild is quite small as as such we are progressing through Naxx at a slow but steady rate. The runs only started a couple of weeks ago (twice a week) and the guild (all casual players with mostly limited or even no raid experience) has now got Arachnid Quarter down to a fine art. They also managed to get plague quarter down and were heading into Military last night.

I was too low level when they started to join the raids so I have been sat on the sidelines doing heroics. I am now Naxx geared so when a healer pulled out last night I was up.

I knew they were heading into Military quarter. What I hadn't realised was they hadn't yet downed Loatheb. That's right, my first ever raid ever (I only hit 70 on this toon 2 days before expansion) and the first boss casts a lovely buff where you can only heal for 3 seconds out of every 20...

I thought you might be interested to know that Disc spec was my friend. With the help of deadly boss mobs I figured out how to time a Prayer Of Healing to land just after the buff lifted and still had time to shoot off the best part of my penance on the off tank. I also liberally used PW:S to save the *** of DPS, tanks and healers alike. With my talent build it's absorption is so awesome that even though we wiped 3 times before we got it down but the fights lasted 10+ minutes with all us 3 healers feeling quite smug. All these times the problem was so many newbies to the fight struggling to find a system that would let them get the buffs from the spores, no ones fault imo as you can only learn what works by doing it in there. We would have had it in 3 as well if it hadn't been for a DPS we had to pug d/cing a minute or so into the fight. Once he was replaced we easily downed Loatheb the fourth time. The feeling when we did was amazing.

We then went on to down Instructor Razuvious in two (the MT put his hands up for that one as he lost his mind control by accident and the healers got stomped) and we had an attempt on Gothik but after a couple if goes we couldn't figure out a rhythm to pull and clear before the waves became too much and stomped the healers.

Overall I was second on the heal meters and second on the overheals so despite being new and lesser geared than the other two healers I still matched them heal wise and am feeling very please with myself now. My disc spec is here to stay.

Woo-hoo! I love that fight. No worries about mana management. ;) As Holy, Prayer of Healing + an instant CoH works very nicely as well, especially if it procs a free flash heal (which it almost always does, at least one or the other if not both) and you get that off in time too.

I'm glad you're out there showing that this is not Burning Crusade and that priests of any spec are full of win. Smiley: nod

I, on the other hand, had my first attempt at "tanking" one of the horsemen the other night. Five attempts later I finally got it right. Smiley: disappointed

Haha, know what's even messier? 4HM with 2 protadins pre-patch :p
I think we solved it by first letting a warrior taunt someone, and the paladin would taunt it off him. Oh well, back on topic:
Loatheb is full of win as priest. Cast an Inner Focused PoH and keep smiting. First fight I actually went oom in last saturday \o/

Feeling sorry for you having to put that much focus on something so insignificant.

I have already posted about the meters before and I don't rely on them but in my last effort I was 15% behind the other healers as I stated in another thread so I was pretty amazed that I matched the others this time as I prevented a shed load of damage being taken as well so win win for Disc and for me.
