Passive Pet won't attackFollow

Now I could be completely seeing things but I can swear that before the patch if I had my pet on passive I could still manually send him in to attack things. While raiding the past two nights I have only been able to send him in while he has been set to defensive. Has anyone else encountered this? Was this a deliberate change in the patch? I have read the patch notes but I couldn't see anything about this change.

Do you mean that a passive pet won't attack automatically when you shoot?
Or that even an attack command will not make your pet attack when it is on passive?

I have a macro I use to both cast my opening Hunter's Mark and shot, and send my pet in to attack.

I often set my pet to passive and just right-click on the mob, thus launching an auto-attack (while my pet never leaves my side).
Once my mob is close enough, I then use my attack macro.

This method worked all day today as I did my dailies.

No I mean I have my pet set to passive so he doesn't run and aggro mobs when I don't want him to and then when I want him to attack, I manually hit the pet attack button and send him charging in. I don't expect him to run in automatically when I start shooting when I have him on passive. Currently when I have him on passive and I hit the attack button he just stays by my side.

Try this macro out :

/petattack
/cast hunter's mark

What I use for my pet all the time. Instancing or not. If I'm skilling up my melee weapon I'll keep him passive tell I can't take it no more lol.

I do the exact same thing.

Quote:
/petattack
/cast hunter's mark

I use the same, but have the cast order swaped:

/cast Hunter's Mark
/petattack

It is set to my #1.
It worked all day for me, and I just logged 10min ago, and it still was working.

Try the macro OP, if nothing, then an add-on maybe messing up somewhere and somehow messing with your pet.

Try ordering him to "follow" and then ordering him to attack again. Alternatively, you could order him to "stay," despawn him via distance, and then try re-summoning him.

Was this by anychance Maly? Pets are very bugged right now on him. Generally, a "follow" command and then an "attack" command fixes it for me.

Edit: Quoting is hard.

Mine pet is working just fine without any macros. I had him on passive for a quest but he'd still go attack the guy after I clicked the normal pet attack icon. Addon issue?

I'm thinking this is an add-on issue also. I can send my pet to attack when they're on passive mode with the 'pet attack' button.

In order to find the offending add-on, log out, then bring up the add-ons page and turn off all of them. Log-in and see if your pet will now function properly. If so, try adding those add-ons back into your game one at a time to find the offending culprit.

My bet is one of your existing add-ons got broken with the latest patch. Try updating them all.
