Phase one isn't a problem.

I have a really hard time finding her and attacking her in P2. This leads to the phase lasting way to long and me dieing before I can bring her back to the ground. I have trouble seeing her and when I had her visible the camera was so goofy it was awkward to move effectively before she moved. Feral Charge helps but the CD makes it not be a constant helper.

The whelps aren't really an issue, I just kind of ignore them. My problem is targeting Onyxia. Going to try some more with an over head camera view might help. Might try healing my self during the Feral Charge down times as well.

Anyone else trying to do this? Any pointers would be helpful.

Not much help, but can you tell me where you find/fight Onyxia. Havent seen her since she left Stormwind. Is she in her lair in Dustwallow Marsh?
Thanks! ]=)

This is a post that DILBERT listed on the DK forum. Not really too helpful to us, but thought I would list it as it was somewhat relevant.

Dilbert
Soloing Onyxia - Best free 180g I've ever gotten. I plan on keeping this on constant cooldown. Trash is super easy, but as for the boss itself I do recommend tanking her against the wall behind her with frost presence on. This will reduce damage taken to the point where a death strike every other rotation can top you off completely. For phase 2, go ahead and use your army of the dead, as they take care of MOST of the whelps. If you're unholy, save some RP for phase 2 so you can UB once the whelps are grouped up. Also, continue to focus mainly on the boss and watch your health closely. If you have leftover whelps after your army is gone, don't focus on them, instead hit pestilence and just continue to pound on the boss. Once she lands it becomes cake again and you can enjoy your free loot.

My comments
I have read that 2-maning Onyxia is best, but two is always better than one so that is pretty self evident.

Yeah, I know, I am not helping much but it is the thought that counts right? ]=)

Thanks for trying to help.

DK's have ranged attacks which makes P2 a lot easier.

I am thinking of various ideas to deal with P2. Mostly camera angles and using the phase to heal up while charge is on CD.

Would making a macro /tar Onyxia help? or is it trying to get into melee range that is the issue?

Perhaps switching and casting a few Starfires may help?

Its sighting her and getting into melee range that killed me last night.

I think I had her targeted the whole time but actually finding her was the hard part.

I think I many try the Starfire and heal approach tonight. Dropping bear when the whelps get bad.

I've soloed her twice on my bear without issues. You just need to adjust your issue so you're looking directly up (through your character). After killing the whelps in bear at P2, switch to cat. You'll get a speed boost, and do more damage. Every minute pop barkskin, spam heal yourself, and go back to cat. Eventually you might get low on mana (even with innervate, because of low feral spirit), so I'd go to bear and stick to it. You can frenzied regen for a quick 10k.

Some FR gear also makes this phase simple. Even a couple of rings will give you, what, 150? And a bit of stamina too. Combined with MotW you'll have over 200 and resist at least half of the damage here. And it's not a huge issue to use the rings for most of us since our rings no longer give bonus armor.

Stage three is more of the same, except with a fear. Oooo, fear. Because you're worried about that 200 damage she hits for :-P

Really, getting some resistance makes phase two simple. I only have MotW and did it fine though.

Just soloed her last night since our raid was put on hold due to the Super Bowl. The loot was like 3 BoE blues, a couple purples, a bag, her head, and like 58G.

It was the first time I had even been there, or attepted to kill this boss, was fun and easy all in all. The fight lasted 18 min and I never had to pop outa bear and heal.
