I've nearly finished questing in Icestorm and I'm still rocking my Stalkers Helm.
If I jam 3 x AP Gems on it it will give me a massive 156 AP and 31 Agi but the closest easy level 80 helm I can find is this.
Should I just gem the 70 helm up and enchant until I find an upgrade in a heroic or 80 dungeon?

Meh, I'd leave it at what you have now.

If you are going to be pugging alot with people you don't know (ie you are not in a guild farming heroics already) you might want to put something on a little closer to your level. There are many times in PUGS when folks whisper "that guy is still in T4 - kick him". Perception is that you are lazy or stupid if wearing something 10 levels below you. I believe there is a crafted helm that is pretty decent until you get a drop mats are cheap too.
People cleared Naxx in lvl 70 gear.
I ran heroics in mostly 70 gear, simply because there was nothing better than what I had.
It's absolutely pointless to downgrade to stuff just because it's closer to your level.
And in general, blues will last you about 10 levels.
So the helm is good.
and I just wanted to say, you can dump 3x bright bloodstone in there for 72 AP.
It'll only cost you about 6g to do that :)

so the UPGRADE from stalkers is 57 stam, 15 agi, 38 int(alot of mana), 31 AP(assuming careful aim), 45 crit.
This is a significant upgrade for less than the cost of the gems.
Plus you don't look like an idiot. The stalkers helm does not compare to S3 which was best in slot in many ways BC.
Note the conditional - if you are PUGGING. If you have a good guild to run with you will clear heroics. If you PUG with that gear you will not get many invites.
T5/6 and BT/sunwell was not replaced easily pre-heroics anything else should be gone by level 78.
