new pug healer relief strategyFollow

I have discovered a new way to mitigate the dreaded pug healer abuse disease.

If some one whispers "what is your + healing" without first even saying "hello, would you like to heal ..... " I just say no. That just says to me that:
(a) they are rude, and
(b) they tend to wipe and blame it on the 'incompetence/stupidity' of the healer

If some one whispers a somewhat more palatable "Care to ....., what is your + healing", I just give them a + healing figure that is 400 below what I actually heal at. That way if they:
(a) not even respond - then it is their loss and good riddence; or
(b) say "sorry, not good enough" and then not say anything else - then it is their loss and good riddence; or
(c) if they engage in a dialog to see if maybe we can make it work, I then serously consider expending a valuable chunk of my time working through an instance with them .

On the other hand, if some one whispers a reasonably cogent and polite inquiry about how I am geared, and whether I know the bosses, and whether I wish to join them on a heroic, then I without hesitation stock up on the flasks and food and do my best to make it an enjoyable and profitable run for all.

Otherwise I just ignore the "healer" wanted requests on LFG.

To be honest this Bugs the hell out of.

Normally I do guild runs but I logged on the other day and one of our Shammys wanted to go to heroic Gundrak as hes still after the ring from the last boss there. So he finds a tank and couple of DPS.
1st question is healer whats you spell power. That put me in a bad mood straight off and I would have binned it but didnt want to ***** over my guildy.

But what really topped it for me was I have good spellpower balanced with mana regen and I work hard on my kit I knew I would have no issues healing the heroic as long as the tank didnt turn up in greens and the dps didnt take all day killing things.

Then the DPS and tank arrived all in basically quested and instance blue and off we go I am biting my tounge at this point from enquiring as their vast dps potential/ mitigation skills. We did the instance despite the Hunter managing to stand in the poison nova twice, the tank not exactly keeping the best aggro in the world ( love the in combat shadowmeld) and both pug dps putting out a mediocre level on the meters.

I think this question should be going forward "healer whats your spell power as to be honest it better be good to carry our sorry asses through the instance".

Rant off but it feels better having got it of my chest!

I haven't healed in some time, but all I can suggest is: Don't hesitate to stand your ground. If you get ***** because you "aren't healing enough", let them know if they're doing a crappy job themselves (perhaps in more polite words, though that is optional).

Or, just lie about your numbers. If you play well they won't notice.

It's probably slightly less annoying than blind invites. I got asked for my spell power for frigging heroic Nexus a couple weeks ago.

But really, as far as heroics go I'm all geared up healer wise, so I only ever run heals when I'm raiding or with people I know these days.

Or that old favorite, being asked if I want to tank a heroic - while I am in the middle of tanking a boss fight in Naxx! Is it too hard to see where I am before they whisper?

When I get random whispers along the lines of "u resto?", I normally reply "I LIKE CHEESE". Someone on these boards posted this idea, I love it.

Interesting results guaranteed!

I love the idea of silly responses to stupid questions. I had a conversation with a gold beggar outside of Undercity while waiting on the zep once. It went something like this...

Me: *minding my own business waiting for the zep*
Beggar: /w me "can I hav gold plzkthx?"

Me: *ignores the buzzing fly*
Beggar: /w me "ur rich, can u giv me 5 gold plz?"

Me: /r "wha gold?"
Beggar: *silence*

Me: /r "gv ur gd 2 meh"
Beggar: /r "no, can u giv me 5 gold?"

Me: /r "u gv 5 gld?"
Beggar: /r "f u"

Me: /r "annoying, ain't it?" /ignore Beggar *cackle*

I think he accidentally ran off the landing platform after that.

I made an alt named Ruresto, so that when people ask me that I can say "no, he's my shaman."

I always take advantage of the little bar in LFG where you can state your intentions/spec.

I always clearly mark either DPS (if I don't feel like tanking), TANK, or RESTO (cause who doesn't love to be a tree sometimes)

That way when I get the R u Tank/DPS/Resto? I just say, "No".

If they can't take the time to mouse over my name to find out if I put my info into the LFG box, then I don't have time to heal/tank/DPS their stupid asses through an instance.

People not doing this is a huge pet peeve of mine. Everyone except the few classes that can only DPS should do this. He11 I put pertinent stats when using LFG to PuG into a raid spot.

People who need to ask me the questions that I have answers for get told no thanks.
