Hit Rating question?Follow

#1 Jan 21 2009 at 11:49 AM Rating: Default
Hey guys. I've come to ask only one question: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aerie+Peak&n=Fierymoon

What should her hit rating be. Right now she's using 2 good daggers. Librarians paper cutter in offhand and can't remember her main hand. I'm trying to get her to try a mutilate build to stun lock but well she hates change. Help me convince her how much better Mut is to combat while raiding if it is so. But my main question is hit rating. She's increased it to 145. I know its still not high enough. She does not pvp. Doesn't raid yet but runs dungeons. Could you tell me what you think she's ready for if anything?

I understand this question is for your friend but either you reading the FAQ or sending it to her would be the best place to start.

As any other rogue here will agree, there is no magic numbers. So that means in short that even if she upgrades hit, it could be at the expense of another stat and thus could drop your DPS overall.

If you want some cap numbers then the main one for Mut is the 315 poison hit cap. Aside from that make sure she downloads the spreadsheet. It will make her decisions for her, which is a plus, then she can focus on stabbin folks.

Thanks Munter. I'll let her know. Right now she's stacking crit, hit and AP.

If she just wants to be doing "ok" DPS then really there is nothing wrong with what you just described. However if she wants to min/max then yes she should start studying.

According to the armory linked she's using fist/dagger. Her combat spec is top notch and she didn't take any garbage talents. She doesn't need to respec to mut to do good dps. She could use a better fist for her mainhand.

What is she pulling for dps right now?

If she doesn't want to change don't make her. Combat isn't that far behind anyways and trying to switch someone who isn't used to it will actually drop their dps.

Just keep getting her upgrades. No need for change other than that. She's fine as long as she keeps a good rotation.

I just assumed Mut since in the thread the OP said using 2 daggers. Of course combat is good, it just seems like everyone and their grandma is going mut right out of the gates.

Listen to the other posters.

If she is comfortable with Combat and has good gear for it, by all means stay Combat.

I have comparable gear for both Mut and Combat but when I tried Mut for the first time I noticed a slight DPS drop overall. (200 avg on bosses).

Also, her best bet is to read forums for herself and also if staying Combat to find a decent fist MH as it will out perform dagger/dagger. (Current Armory shows daggers anyhow)

She's not on right now to ask her what she hit in the dungeon today. Thanks for the compliments on her spec. I specced her myself by reading all your posts. Listening to what you say to stay clear of. Let me show you what she specced when she was level 62 I still had it written down: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=fZGgAbgfbqkkzkkk

>< Some good points and bad points. Reason she doesn't get on here and read so much is she has 4 kids and a noisy husband. So I help her out. I think she's come along way from were she was. I know she's using the Librarians paper cutter and another dagger right now. She ditched her MH fist. Any suggestions to a good main fist weapon?

I just learned from a previous post I just read that combat take a bit of time to start doing heavy damage while mut deals heavy damage right up front then has sperts in between damage. She's tried sub and hated it. But I don't think she really did ><

Souliken, if you haven't seen it already, the article linked below should be very informative for you:

There.

No.

Set.

Numbers.

How.

Much.

Hit.

Rating.

You.

Should.

Have.

Stop. Stop. Stop. STOP posting false information. There are several soft caps for rogues, there is no set number you need in order to do good dps. If you want to know the exact hit number you need, it's between 99 and 700. How much do YOU need? Get a spreadsheet, it will tell you.

I ignored it lol. One thing I noticed on that sheet was the combat fist/sword. I've never seen not one person using that combination? Does it work.

Anything works. How effectively they work is the real question. And to answer that: I don't know. But for Combat build with sword spec and combat potency I would imagine that it's at least decent. It would feed you a lot of energy at any rate.

It's better to go sword/sword or fist/dagger. Mostly due to your talent points. Close combat is for fist and dagger weapons. Sword specialization is for swords. You kind of have to spread your points between the two if you go fist/sword. Those points can be spent on other dps talents. I recommend sword spec or close combat. You can do fist/sword and it has been done but the OC in me hates splitting between those 2 talents.

Man I remember this thread from when it was one of 300 other threads on the same subject!

Soul...pretty sure I mentioned this in one of your other threads concerning your friend.

A. Trinkets are awful, there are much better quest reward trinkets out of Dragonblight than hers. Have her run heroic nexus for the blood vial one (55 hit, 400ap, or something).

B. Enchants. I seen none other than 4% mount speed.

C. Gems. They are bad, and cheap. If shes questing she has $ for decent gems.

3 Easy fixes for quick DPS upgrades.
