COH 6 sec cooldown BAHFollow

#1 Jan 21 2009 at 7:44 AM Rating: Default
Granted Coh as an instant heal is like rolling your face on the keyboard but a 6 second cooldown is just a
tad ridiculous. Should be more like a 3 or 4 sec cooldown IMO or if they are gonna leave it 6seconds
then there should be something in the talent tree to reduce time or a glyph of some sort . I dont
disagree that there shouldnt be a cooldown but a 6 second cooldown is a bit long.
Agree or Disagree PLZ post

A change to CoH was needed, the cooldown was not the solution. I'm hoping to see a buff on renew, PoH etc to see something making those spells better in a heavy AOE encounter (Sapphiron etc) and not just COH! COH! COH! COH! COOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

3 seconds would've been better, IMO, but I'm not broken up about it.

I haven't found it too annoying so far. Spamming COH was the best way to run out of mana quickly before the nerf anyway.

I do wish they'd make us just a tiny bit less **** in PvP, in either of three specs, but I think we're good in PvE. And a 6 sec CD on a situational ability isn't going to change that.

I wish we had more of an edge in PvE, personally. We need a gimmick.

I'm disc specced now and that's pretty cool, I can stay alive a LONG time through cunning use of spells despite my cloth armor although not tested too much in PVP as yet. I just went into OS though and I got hurt the least by the fire wall thing on last boss somehow.... COH cooldown, pah go Disc spec instead. The darkside has me now and I won't go back I tell you!

Disc healing is a lot like pre-TBC healing, the way I feel it. What seperates the men from the boys is the ability to single-target heal people when your group is taking AOE damage. Click, shield, click, flash heal, click, prayer of mending, click, penance. On good days you are healing so intensely that the global cooldown is actually the limit that's keeping you from healing your party trough this insane amount of damage (which you should normally not even need to heal trough, blame the DPS). That's probably what I like about it, it has a slightly nostalgic feeling *Grins*.

As for CoH... I never really needed it (as holy that is) and maybe the way I heal ties in with that. To me, it has never packed enough punch to waste a global cooldown on.

Sigh... the lag in Naxx was so bad tonight (as usual) that my "instant" casts were taking six seconds to land anyway, so I really didn't notice it.

I dinged 80 about the time word of the CoH nerf was coming, and so when I switched to Holy I made a point of rarely using it. Having never relied on it I found other ways to heal, and I think as Holy we are very powerful healers.

druids also have the same CD i believe on wild growth.

But evenwith this CD, priests are still amazing at AOE healing.

Doing Hc Loken today, a PoH followed by a CoH was all she needed to do to keep us up through the novas and there were no times when my balls went back into my stomach with fear of someone dying.

It won't change a thing for 5-mans. If it does, you just plain suck at healing.

For raids it brings back the need to coordinate and cooperate, and ensures variety in classes. I'm all for that.

What's sad in the overall picture though is that there is little left for a priest that is NOT on an extra cooldown.

Last night was a fresh week in Naxx, it was no problem with the new cooldown and if anything I have to wonder if we were going a bit too mad on the CoH spam previously. OK so we only cleared the 4 quarters and still have the fun of Sapph to go.

It wasn't really comparable with chain heal when it was a party-only heal and the 2 heals had their place. Then they changed it and circle of healing became just ridiculous. It had the potential for almost (but not quite) twice the heal/sec of chain heal, plus the big benefit of being instant cast. To bring it closer in line with the heal/sec of chain heal would've needed something like for it to heal only 3 targets or a 3 second cast time or cooldown. I would've hated a cast time on it and am very glad its still instant cast.

So sure I would've preferred a slightly shorter cooldown (3 secs is still too short, 4-5 secs perhaps), but can understand why as long as 6 secs. Us holy priests have much, much more than just CoH.

I never had to spam CoH to successfully heal, but I do not think the CD was necessary. The fact that it WAS spammable was the reason it was such a loved spell. I still use it regardless. I think if they were going to do this, they should have buffed Prayer of Healing. Either lowered it's mana cost or increased how much it healed because it's not uncommon for a Resto Shaman to be chosen over a Holy Priest.

If prayer of healing heals a full 5 people its already an amazing spell, more efficient than circle of healing or chain heal (I think, I've not double checked this), and the 30yd range makes it easy to heal up a group thats perhaps a bit too spread out for CoH or chain heal to work optimally - as ranged dps/healers often are.

Taking into account our variety of multiple-target heals, it really just depends on the fight and the raid set-up as to whether a shammy or holy priest can handle the raid healing job more easily, I'm not sure why one should be preffered over another.
#15REDACTED, Posted: Jan 29 2009 at 11:12 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) PoH isn't as desirable as CH because of its very high mana cost. CH was always a great spell and even more so now with Riptide.
