I've read the hunter's patch over and over and over again. So BM is still good for leveling but not raiding or heroics. Guess I need to learn trap dancing. Research time!

In which I say and spec will work for leveling. I'm at 76, but this was what I was doing w/ tree points.. Unless the numbers are just so much lower, then I may change to MM or look into SV (however, I do like me pet to be my tank..that is why I have him :p). My spec doesn't effect others, as I don't raid/do many instances.

I may give MM or SV a shot with a respec tonight just to finally do something different. Probably MM since I plan on doing some BG's at 80 for a bit.

I forgot to put a question mark at the end of the question. It was about BM being ok for leveling but not for raiding. I need to respec lol. Was using a spec for my gorilla:

yea im wonderin the same thing. i feel like moving to MM but idk. i would like to get an exotic pet but DPS would increase so much with MM
Wonder how much explosive shot in SV has increased since the patch and is the patching finished or are they planning another one sometime! My DPS has seriously decreased and my cat doesn't hit as hard anymore =( Poor stripes. He's sad now. Whats the new DPS king pet?

coming back to this question after playing WoW for a bit i realized...
Probably the best build for a hunter would be MM, because your pet can tank without you wasting your talent points, simply take his talent points and give him stamina

Numbers are somewhere in the SV thread on EJ I believe.
I know that with my 4k AP self buffed, I average about 6k Explosive shots.
(4.5k with no crits, 9-10k with all 3 crits and I crit close to half of my Explosive shots)

Auto shot 23% of damage done averaging 1534
Steady shot 21% of damage done averaging 1855
ES 16% of damage done averaging 897 (not impressive)

Steady shot 11% of damage done (indicative of the nerf and me learning to make better use of the right shot rotation as this is my second raid running SV.)

Respecced to SV today,have to say im liking it alot.Trap dancing isnt really too hard,just run up to the boss and throw a trap down,pop Disengage and continue Pew-pewing,or if your out questing kite em through your trap and pew-pew and run.BM is and will always be the most efficient way to lvl a hunter simply for the fact of the survivability that pet gives you while lvling and throw a FD and then run away and you can escape nearly EVERY situation if needed.I am a newborn Survival lover :)
I don't know about SV yet. I'm going to spec it before I do MM so I get a feel for both. I may end up leaning towards MM. I looked at my friends armory. He respecced to MM after patch. Said his AP is almost 3k unbuffed and over 3k buffed. Thats pretty decent if you ask me.
Depends on what you call decent.
As SV with mostly Naxx10 gear, my Ap is at 4.1k, my crit is at 33% (with only hawk)
