Hunter Health Help!Follow

#1 Jan 19 2009 at 9:02 AM Rating: Decent
My hunter has extremely low health, 1300 to be exact. I really need help on how to increase that. He's level 40 and I saw a level 19 orc hunter with 2300 health. Help Please!

Before I address anything else, I would say this. At level 40, don't worry about health. You are leveling- until you hit 80 don't worry about it. You should be pet tanking so your health should not matter.

I do not have access to armory from work, so I can't look at your gear. Some things you need to think about concerning this low level hunter with high health are:

1) Spec: There are talents in the BM and SV trees that increase your stamina.

Survival: Tier 3 Survivalist (5) - Increases your health points by 10%.
BM: Tier 1 Endurance Training (5 points) - Increases pet health by 10%
and the hunter's health by 5%.

2) Gear: Most gear has some type of combination of Stamina on it. If you are using only "of Agility" or "of Power" gear, you are only increasing those stats. Maybe this Orc hunter has high stamina stats on his gear.

3) Enchants: Although you shouldn't be enchanting things at low levels since you are cycling your gear continuously, enchants can also have a huge effect on your stats. I would only recommend getting enchants on low level gear if you are an enchanter and are leveling that profession.

I hope this helps you out- although in reality the Orc player you saw was probably a twink.

What spec are you playing? That's the biggest question... if you're BM, health shouldn't be an issue at 40. Actually, for any spec, health at 40 shouldn't be an issue. Trust me when I say that, at lvl 80, stamina bonuses are going to be healthy enough to cover health issues (no pun intended). Follow the trend mentioned in the FAQS, choose your gear based on your build, or as close as ya can, and know that every few levels, you'll see an upgrade here and there. Otherwise, putting so much focus on stats/health/gear is just going to burn through valuable gold that you could be saving up for your epic flyer.

The only time you'd need to worry about health at the low-mid levels is if you're going to freeze your levelling in order to BG/PVP, and if that's the case, just say so and I'm sure folks will help you develop a bit more. :)

Well you want to improve your stamina. Agi, Stam and Int are the stats you want to focus on with Attack power, crit and hit rating. Race also factors in overall as some classes have less health than other for their class.

don't compare yourself to anyone who is level 19 or 29 as they are probably twinks.

I'd also like to add that you should never judge yourself by those around you, especially if they are level 19, 29 or 39. A lot of x9 level characters are called "Twinks," which are toons that people have put a lot of time and money into with the sole purpose of being the strongest character in a battleground. These toons have the best gear available to them (often times, pieces that cost them over 100g), and focus completely on PvP survivability, which means high stamina, high armor and above all else, high health.

Having 1300 health at level 40 is quite normal. Having only a few pieces of gear with stamina isn't a bad thing. The closest hunter I have to your hunter is level 27, and she only has 800 health. It's never effected my ability to level because my pet takes all the abuse.

Just make sure to stick with pieces that either have Agility, Attack Power and/or Intellect. Stamina is an added bonus, and Spirit doesn't hurt, but it's the least useful stat to hunters.

And I checked out your armory. Almost every piece of gear you have has strength on it! You need to replace all of it. Strength really doesn't do anything helpful for a hunter at all. Yes, it says that it increases your attack power, but what it's REALLY doing is increasing your MELEE attack power. Agility (and Intellect, if specc'ed properly) increases both your Melee AND Ranged attack power, which is what you want.

So stay away from "of the Bear" pieces. You want to go for "of the Falcon," "of the Monkey," "of Agility," "of Attack Power," or when nothing else is available, "of the wolf"

Thanks a lot to all of you. I realized later today that pets are really the ones that need health. I mean I was raiding the Crossroads by myself at level 40 and was destroying endless gaurds while my pet was attacking, and all I needed to do was heal it, until a high level DK cmae lol. Really though, the only problem I have is PvP, but yeah, your right I probabl don;t need to worry right now, im just leveling. Thanks!
