changing armor out?Follow

#1 Jan 19 2009 at 2:22 AM Rating: Excellent
I wish there was a way to see the effects of defense when changing armor out. I am curious what would the titansteel set do for me defense wise? I am currently in nearly full saronite armor (chest armor is a drop). I am at 524/540 and I am desperately trying to get the 540 so I can start running heroics... My only option (as I see it) is the Seal of Pantheon, but I have had terrible drop luck off Loken (despite armory says its a 20-30% drop). Im going out of my mind doing the normal dungeons lol.

Get ratingbuster

THe addon is seriously perfect, it shows what changes the item u are looking at would do to ur stats.
So ull see what stats go up, what go down etc

This.

You can set it to show different ways too. I can see the defense rating changes, up/down, or I can see the actual defense skill change, or even both. It's a nice add-on to see which stats will go up or down compared to your current gear. You can even set it to take enchants and other things into consideration or ignore them.

Ratingbuster is good and all, and I highly recommend it to anyone, without exception. The only problem is that it only compares a single piece of gear at a time. What I've wanted for a while (and I'm assuming it's what the OP is asking for), is a tool that allows me to see the overall effect of changing several pieces ... www.warcrafter.net allows (or allowed, before the expansion, and it broke - here's hoping they'll fix it) you to do that, but it would be nice to have that info available in-game.

Yes I have rating buster already and its nice, but I can only see one item at a time. Before I go dropping 10k+ on Titansteel I would like to see the overall changes it will make.

Thank you this is what I was looking for... I really am stuck until I get that trinket ><. Its the only way to achieve 540

Another new one out on the market is Pawn. Haven't had a chance to play around with it yet but it seems to be made for min/max people.

Pawn Write Up wrote:
Pawn assesses the value of items for you to make it easy to decide which items are better than others. It's similar in purpose to mods such as Tank Points, but completely customizable, and applicable to any class and situation. You can use it to help create multiple gear sets, or decide whether to take that weapon with higher DPS or the one with more crit rating, or decide between a necklace with MP5 and one with bonus healing.

Pawn is a mod for hardcore World of Warcraft players—you may not like it if you're not the sort of person who agonizes over stats and itemization. You can use premade Pawn "scale tags" that other people make and post on forums to set up Pawn for your spec without any extra effort. And, if you're the kind of person who goes through Wowhead and Lootzor looking for exactly the items you want for your gear sets, builds Excel spreadsheets, installs TheoryCraft, reads Elitist Jerks... well, Pawn might just be right up your alley.

For heroics, you need only 535 for crit immunity (heroic bosses are level 82). Also just in case, with patch 3.0.8 tonight or tomorrow you will get the new runeforge adding 25 defense rating which could help with gearing options.

Try explaining that to the people on my server. They want no less than 540.... but thanks for pointing out the 535 though. It does make my life a lot easier

That being said, once you go the extra mile and do reach 540, I wouldn't hesitate to warn every single DPS who believes he has anything to ask about your gear that they have exactly until the end of the 3rd pull to exceed 1200 DPS or getting booted. I see absolutely no reason why a DPS could both make bold demands to the tank (and the healer) while expecting to get piggibacked in greens with 800 dps.
