Hey Guys, I just have a quick question. I was at 540 def by lvl 77, I understand the idea of deminishing return. IE if my gear doesnt improve by lvl 80 i'll be less then 540. My question is at lvl 79 I have 542Def, each time i've gained a level the increase in Def skill purely by leveling it has evened out the deminishing return. I was talking to a lvl 80 warrior who seemed to have most of my gear and a few better pieces and he still wasnt at 540 def. heres the question heh.
If i'm at 541 def at 79 about how many points am I going to lose when I ding lvl 80? Anyone have an idea on that?

What's your Defense Rating at? This is pretty much the ONLY use for Defense Rating, predicting what your actual Defense Skill will be when you level up.
540 Defense Skill = 689 Defense Rating at level 80. If you have less, you won't be there when you level. Remember that you'll need to train up your last 5 Defense Skill points when you ding too.
From a symantecs standpoint, Defense isn't really subject to any diminishing returns (though the avoidence you get from it is). True, the term certainly qualifies since you get less out of it with each level, Diminishing Returns is used to describe other mechanics as well and it's a little ambiguous to use it to describe the reduced effect of ratings as you level.

Hmm..I dont really now what my rating is. But if I need 689 def rating to equal 540 Def thats good enough for me to know. I'm fairly certain i'm not at that. But I will be replacing My shield, helm, Legs, Neck, and both rings tomorrow with Crafted epic items so I'll get a bonus of def from that.
