I'm somewhat tired of watching my Cheap and Kidney Shots miss in PvP. It doesn't happen too often, but when it does it usually means a fight is about to get needlessly risky and the possibility of defeat goes through the roof. So, I was wondering how much +hit is needed against an equal level target at 80?

For that matter, thoughts on this specc?

No Vigor, no Focused Attacks, no Quick Recovery and no Relentless at all. One thing I'm sure of, and that is that energy generation will be a pain in that build.

I suppose it's a bit like that Overkill/Prep build that... was it Rusttle(?) posted. Works for dispatching low resilience enemies in a BG quickly. Even for that use you'll want Vigor, though.

Edit: Oh, and if I remember correctly, a rogues' PvP yellow cap is 153 when assuming your target does not have any -hit talents. Feel free to correct me on that though, might be a little off.

Since some classes have abilities that reduce their chances to be hit, I'd recommend having about 200 hit rating with no Precision.

Note that this won't prevent your Kidney Shots from being dodged. Increasing your expertise can help with that, and don't forget that a player's chance to dodge is negated when hit from the back.

Yeah, I was thinking just of Yellow cap, not considering Dodges. Hmm, Energy regen is a point, I guess.
The build was just an attempt at maximizing burst. I'll take the energy regen into consideration.
Right, 200ish hitrating. Thanks.

If you want to maximise burst.. to be honest, grab some pve daggers and go 41/5/25. With 141/130 dps daggers in mh/oh, I've seen combined double crits over 7k on clothies. Less with resilience, but it still shows the staying power of DW spec that is hard to ignore. Keep in mind that the 50% bonus is applied to both weapon damage and damage from attack power, which out-weighs the 6 second 10% bonus from master of deception.

Gouge is.. meh in pvp. It serves its intended function untalented, which is a disorient/peel/give you a chance to regain control of the fight. Improved KS is basically useless since in bg's people save trinket for kidney and in arenas you aren't dropping a 22k hp priest through pain suppression and shields before you run out of gas.

Few tips:
Blood Spatter is meh to the extreme. Grab 3/3 Ruthlessness and 2/3 Improved Evis imo.
Drop imp gouge and master of subtlety for DW spec, it really is that good.
You really do need relentless strikes ._. the ability to CS-Mut-CB evis-Mut-evis chained together during a cheap shot is pure gold.
Drop initiative and Imp Ambush for it. If you have >20% crit in your gear you have no problems with combo points.

There's a reason that 41/5/23 +2 is so cookie cutter. It's because you can drop a decked ret pally in a cheap shot if crits favor you and he doesn't panic-bubble.

I agree that you need relentless strikes, but not for the same reason. I dual wield Sinister Revenges, so I don't waste my CB on Evis, I'll use it on the Muti after the Evis, since my Mutis are usually higher than my eviscerates. However, there are certain situations, where you're CD's are blown, and that one CP into a DT will prevent you from being kited.
