Totem RelicFollow

Perhaps I missed the thread or something, but I couldn't really find a good discussion on the totems in our relic slots. (If there is one, just /facepalm, slap me across the face, and point me in the direction)

As I was just randomly looking at emblem goodies, I started thinking about whether or not I should replace my current relic. I had seen this http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=40709;source=live for 15 emblems, and was wondering whether or not the mana cost reduction is quite noticable.

Would it be worth getting the emblem totem, or perhaps upgrading my current totem to this one from the venture co. people (which would require me to probably do the quests in Grizzly Hills)?

Thanks for any help.

Edit: I did see that thread quite a bit of ways down from this one for the "Resto pre-Naxx gear," and it shows the Emblem totem. If possible, I'd still like to know if the mana reduction is noticable.

I'll also mention that I tend to not have mana problems, so that may have an affect on which totem to use.

Both totems are worth having, but for my money the badge totem is the one most worth using in raids and heroics. Cross-raid/party damage is usually never heavy enough that Chain Heal doesn't have a problem keeping up with it (if it does, it usually has more to do with just being too slow), and the totem will boost your longevity just that much more.

Good to know. I think I'll go ahead and get it and switch out when needed (if needed). Thanks Gaudion.

I personally am a big fan of the totem of the bay. Not only is it easy to get, but I personally think the SP boost for CH is quite useful.

But I also really stack haste and mp5, so my SP is a bit low compared to people to might choose another itemization path.

I haven't quested in Grizzly Hills at all yet or have experience with that area. Where would you start the quests for the Venture Co. people?

I've been healing alot, cleared naxx early december and have done alot of heroics. The totems i use are the grizzly hills one (+102 spellpower to chain heal) and the Nagrand one (totem of the plains, +87 spellpower to lesser healing wave)

For 5-mans, MT/OT healing and fights where chain heal is inefficient i use totem of the plains.

For trash and raid healing I use the grizzly hills totem.

Still havent used the badge one, just bought it to get the superior achievement. Guess it can be useful in long fights where you are on raid healing and/or if your mana regen is low.

To me, it's a function of what roll you're playing.

When I'm healing a single target, I'm not going to be using CH much at all, and I'd want some BC totem like Totem of Spontaneous Regrowth or Totem of the Maelstrom. Sure, they're BC totems, but for maximizing HPS on single targets they are pretty darn good until you get into deep 25 man WotLK stuff.

If I'm doing raid heals for a long fight, I might really want to reduce CH mana cost. If I'm doing raid heals for a short fight, I might want to up CH heal values.

In short, Shaman are not one-trick pony healers, so there is no one best relic. Just because having one means you don't need to carry the 4 little starter totems doesn't mean you only need one. Carry the gear to maximize your effectiveness in any healing situation you might find yourself. And then start adding a few DPS totems in case you're called upon to provide a bit of damage when you're in a dps race.

Go to Venture Bay in Grizzly Hills. Get all the quests there and go do them. (its a world PVP zone) You will get Venture Coins as a reward in addition to gold/experience. There's a vendor in there where you can spend venture coins to buy totems and a few other items.
