Leveling spec?Follow

#1 Jan 15 2009 at 1:35 PM Rating: Default
Just hit 60 on my warrior, with a RAF account, and now that Ill be leveling solo was wondering which spec is best to level. I was thinking furry titans grip at first but realizing that it will decrease my hit that much doesn't seem like a very good leveling spec when your not gemming and enchanting for hit. SO would just like to know, if arms, furry with TG, or without TG will be most useful.

Thanks

I guess my question is more, is it worth it to take TG at 60 and duel wield two, 2handers or go furry duel wield and then at 80 switch to TG

I would take TG at 60, but it's really up to you. What I suggest is try both out for a bit and see which style you like better. Example builds for both Arms and Fury can be found here. So as I said before try both and stick with the one you like better.

thinking of levelling my warrior again. I'll definately have to try both. I was disappointed how slow my fury warrior level 52 was killing things. So I may try arms. But soon I will get titans grip, so...

My question is titan's grip all that? Does it miss more? I'm tired of duel weilding missing so much. And then the reduced damage. hmm.

From what I've seen,(Pre 3.0.8) I was able to hit the mob about 80-90% of the time. Every so often, you might come across combats where you just don't seem to be hitting them at all.

I've tried both Arms and Fury, and found that in the same gear, I was easily doing 400-600+ dps more as fury. In most lvl 80 heroics in my current gear I am able to hit up to 3k DPS against bosses (depends on boss fight) and about 2k-2.5k against trash.

Now that they have removed the hit penalty from TG, fury wars should be able to put out more dps, due to not having to stack as much extra +hit to get around the 5% reduction.

thx for the info. sometimes I wonder if I'm playing wrong though. It sometimes takes me 10 or 12 seconds to kill a mob compared to my ret pally who could do it in 8 (by the time the next judgement c/d came up). I'm not timing them real accurate, just going by my bloodthirst c/d's. Mind you this is for solo levelling and solo killing primarily- occasionally I'll get adds and use ww and cleave. Though they don't seem that great.

At first I was staying in zerker and keeping my rage (not using execute). But I wasn't happy with that. So now I charge in battle/change to zerker (unfortunately lose all my rage but 10- but till better than 0 right?). Wait till 30 then bloodthirst. I usually have to wait the 5 secs for another b/t. I usually have 30 more rage by this time, so I hit that. Usually in a couple more seconds the mob will be ready for an execute. This seems to go faster, though I'm not sure. I'd say 10 to 12 secons, sometimes longer if I get excessive misses. I find I don't have much extra rage for anything besides bloodthirst and execute. If I do find myself with excess rage I heroic strike after the second b/t to get the mob into excecute range faster. But I feel I'm missing something. Should I be using Death's wish? I think I should, just haven't tried it yet.

Since patch 3.0.8 was released i have switched back to Fury and I love it. I had been leveling as arms and fury I have switched a half dozen times to level 70 and prot to 75 and i just switched back to fury now... and Ill tell ya Fury is the most enjoyable especially if you use the Impale/Deep wounds build with Titans grip... My build is very similar to DarkPhoenix above... I say Fury is the way to go I ran two instances with the same guys as I have always ran and my DPS blew away the others... I also love the new talent that heals you for thirty percent of your health over ten seconds during battle (3 minute cooldown), I can finally heal myself and have a pot just incase... Do it Fury rules

I find that I am never in any other stance then beserker (Other when tank dies and I have to quickly pick up the threat). My rotation atm is: WW, BT, HS/Cleave (depends on if it's a single mob or multi-mob fight) and repeat. Use slam evertime the instant cast proc is up. I tend to use intercept to get to the next mob when it's off of CD, otherwise I would just run towards the mob and hit it with a range ability/weapon so that the run is half as long.

I only use Recklessness, Death Wish and Trinkets on boss (simple stand and hit) fights just to really maximize my DPS andDmg. My average kill time of a lvl 80 non-elite is about 5-10 secs (Sometimes longer depending on how often I hit the mob).

I always have HS/Cleave active as a rage dump inbetween BT and WW CD's. Execute is also only used as a rage dump when either a boss is nearly dead or you rage regen is just crazy and you just can't seem to use it all.

With soloing, Fury warriors (lvl 75+) don't have much downtime since we get a healing ability, and we are able to down mobs quick enough to not take alot of dmg. Allowing us to be at full, if not close to full HP at the end of the 3mins.

All in all, once you hit lvl 80, get in some quest, instance and crafting rares/epics you should be able to get into the top 2 spots on the DPS meters.

I'm a little happier now I got some better gear. Problem with old world is your gear gets so outdated. By like 10 levels!. People always say not to buy gear from the AH, but warriors seem to be too dependent on gear. Getting some 50's gear off the AH really has helped things. My swords are level 54 tiger swords. I bought 3 pieces of the Valor set- more a ret pally item, but there's no int (just useless spirit), and the str, agility, and stam are good. Rest are greens. Really sped things up. Problem with old world is quests do NOT keep your gear up to date. Unless you perhaps go scan thru all of them for plate quest rewards.

Outlands and Northrend are much better. They start giving you gear from the beginning and then start on giving you replacements by the mid 60's, 70's.

I agree with you their thrashering. Once you hit outland all your vanilla WoW becomes outdated, from the word go. While I was leveling back in Vanilla, I was constantly buying upgrades on the AH just to be able to keep killing mobs.

I just started a new war (34 Prot) and I can see how much easier it is to level now then what it was back in 1.6 or something like that.

ya my rage generation just sucked big time. Classes like rogues can get by with lesser gear, as their energy regenerates no matter what. But with **** poor gear, I can't generate **** for rage.

Nowadays prot works pretty well while leveling, believe it or not. You do decent damage, rarely ever die, can solo some group quests, silence casters and don't have to stop and eat as often. Starting out at lvl 60 this build can work for you, prio on getting shockwave and a mix of talents for increased dps, mitigation and stuns/interrupts:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warrior/talents.html?tal=000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000053351225000012520130113321

I started out in Wotlk with gear from Zul Aman, Kara and full badge gear, leveled as fury at first but switched to arms to avoid being ganked :D
A friend of mine leveled as prot thou, with BT/Sunwell gear and he gained xp pretty much at the same rate as his guildies.

That said, I'm a sucker for being able to CC the mobs and actually survive for more than a few seconds, if I leveled a warrior again I'd do it as prot. Eating = Fail :P
