2vs2 Ret Paladin Arena SpecFollow

#1 Jan 15 2009 at 12:11 PM Rating: Default
I would like to get some feed back from other ret Paladins and here their advie on their specs and the Pro's and con's of specing that way. I believe it is very important to talk about a Ret Paladin 2vs2 arena spec because of all the possibilites u can choose. Their's like 7 different ways to spec in the Ret tree probably even more but i think the 20 points in Prot are a given, especially for 2vs2. So lets get Prot out of the way:PROTECTION- 5/5 in Divine Strength, 3/3 in Stoicism, 2/2 Guardian's Favor, 5/5 in Toughness, 3/3 Improved Hammer of Justice, 2/2 in Divine Guardian.
The only thing people might argue with is max out 5 points in Toughness when Improved Righteous Fury reduces ALL damage by 6%. The reason I go Toughness is the fact that Righteous Fury can get dispelled by a few classes and will be dispelled and costs way to much mana to recast on yourself during the fight and I enjoy the 30% reduced snare even though we do have Hand of Freedom. But also HoF can and will be dispelled when facing any good team that can dispell. If your running 2vs2 I think their is no discussion on having Divine Guardian, you have to keep your partner alive or your useless obviously. The 2 classes I run with is a 69/11/0 Mage &Discipline Priest and both strategies is to keep your partner alive during the initial blast especially against Rogues and DK's and you should be golden.
OK, let's talk Ret tree spec. First thing I need to adress is how important is Righteous vengence to drop 5 points in it or 2-3 points. Is their better spots to put those 5 points in or is it vital, I've tried rolling with and without it and it's really hard to get a feel if it's necessary or not. OK but heres my current spec for the Mage which is only different in 1 spot then the Priest which is I use Divine Purpose for Priest and not Mage because Mage can blink out and usually isn't slowed up for too long. So here it is 5/5 Benediction, 3/3 Heart of Crusader, 2/2 Improved Judgements,1/1 Vidication 5/5 Conviction,1/1 Seal of Command, 2/2 Pursuit of Justice, 2/3 Sanctified Seals, 3/3 Crusade, 3/3 Two-Handed Weapon Specialization, 1/1 Sanctified Retribution, 3/3 Vengeance, 2/2 Art of War, 1/1 Repentance, 3/3 Judgements of the Wise, 5/5 Fanticism, 3/3 Sanctified Wrath, 1/1 Crusader Strike, 3/3 Sheath of Light, 2/5 Righteius Vengeance, 1/1 Divine SStorm. I dont spec the Improved Blessing of Might because of once again the dispell factor and also i believe that the 2 sec reduction on the judgements is great especially when u get ur 2nd set bonus which nocks it down to 3 sec and leaves you with a 7 sec cooldown on judgments{:>]
Now my main question lies in this 3rd tier. VINDICATION,EYE FOR AN EYE,CRUSADE, DIVINE PURPOSE. Like I said if your with a Priest get Divine Purpose or another healer. If your with another DPS class and your a burst team don't do it. So Sanctified Seals I only do 2 of 3 because you already have 30% form Stoicism so it leaves u at a 96% chance to resist which still lets players have the option of dispelling it and hopefully they will try and waste their time on it because it's not going to happen. Sanctified Retribution is a 3% damage increase to you and your party so i believe it's worth the 1 point. Ok let me get to the point because this is turning into 1 huge post. Vindication, Eye for an Eye, Crusade and Righteius Vengeance. Which one's are the most Important cause pretty much you can only have 2 of the 4? Some people like to short Fanticism but I think it's very important to have, us Ret boys live off crits especially if your a burst team because you will need to healin most of your games.
So let me hear what you think and what has worked the best for you. I'm going to keep 20 points in Prot no matter what beacuse I want Divine Guardian. It has saved my mage a countless number of times especially when u stack it with Hand of Sacrifice. I believe it's necessary against any Rogue combo of a team and just plain necessary for any 2vs2 team. I played for my 1st time with a Mage a few days ago. He was in all blues except his weapon and 1 other piece we ot our team up to 1614 kept going and we got tired and sloppy and dropped it back down so we just reset so we can gimp to 1645 for Gloves and pants(hatred). I love the team we have crazy burst damage the object is to free up your mage and let him freecast and its game over. You just need 1 counter spell to hit for an interupt and anyone you choose is goin down. Pop wings if ur health isn't too low and just unleash all.

This is what I would (and will, once my ret set is complete) go as ret for 2s.

I would honestly skip Righteous Vengeance in every ret pvp build you use because its a completely useless 5 point talent. It's a deep wounds knock off that is at the bottom of the tree and its dispellable to boot. Only good for keeping those rogues unsealthed but in most cases that rogue will be able to restealh if he really want's to.
