*For those whom haven't read the PTR Patch 3.0.8 notes
*For PvP applications

After studying the upcoming "checks and balances" coming to DK's im feeling DejaVu, this seems not unlike a few patches ago when Rogues migrated away from the SS nerf towards the Mut buff. No complaints, just saying.

For PvP, I have been using the relatively popular 22/0/49 Unholy to great success. But after studying these patch notes, Im leaning towards something more like 51/13/7 Blood (may make room for DRW, not sure yet) for the following reasons:

Quote:
* Vampiric Blood: In addition to its current effects, also adds 20% health temporarily.

Speaks for itself.

Quote:
* Death Pact - now grants 40% instead of 20% healing.

Now I know that having a pet in, say, 2-mans is a great addition, but this change does sweeten the deal for trading a functioning pet for a nice chunk O' hp.

Quote:
* Blood Aura now grants 2/4% instead of 1/2% healing.
* Blood Presence - now grants 2/4% instead of 1/2% healing.

Overall Buff to HP returns.

Quote:
* Will of the Necropolis will now reduce the damage of any attack that takes the DK below 35% health by 5 /10/15% instead of boosting armor when wounded.

IMO this is great for Arena applications.

Quote:
* Heart Strike - no longer has a haste debuff but will now be able to strike two targets.

Cleave in 5-mans, yes please!

Among other buffs to Bloody Strikes, etc...

Now im not saying Unholy got nerfed to the ground, or even hard for that matter, but in my eyes they made blood that much tastier.

No, Blood won't be better than a 21/0/50 build. HS as a cleave is actually worse than the debuff it has right now for PvP.

Vamp Blood also got nerfed; it only gives +35% healing instead of 50%.

You also wouldn't take Blood Aura in a PvP Blood build; points can be used for much better stuff.

This is how I've run mostly as Blood, though I'd also strongly consider 44/27/0.

Endless Winter is really one of the strong points in that build. I wouldn't use that in 5v5s, though, since odds are you'll have a warrior putting hamstring on whatever your target is.

Mark of blood also has a 10 second duration in PvP, or will in the patch.

MoB is really being taken down to 10 seconds? I had not seen that before on changes and am 5% sure that it is full duration now.

If so...weaaaaak.

I saw a screenshot on MMO champion of someone showing it at 10 seconds.

Also, "Vampiric Blood now Temporarily grants the Death Knight 15% (down from 20%) of maximum health and increases the amount of health generated through spells and effects by 35% (down from 50%) for 20 sec. After the effect expires, the health is lost."

So apparently they added a 15 minute cooldown to shadow of death so that it will never see the inside of an arena gain. It also nerfs it in PvE, but hey as long as it gets nerfed in arena, who cares what it does outside of arena right?

Anyway, I played 20 arena games in BC then swore off arena completely and never did a single other game after that, and it looks like I might do the same for LK. I'll have to do arena during the valentines event, but I sure trade chat can help me get that achievement. Other than that, I think I'm gonna wash my hands of arena.

If others enjoy it, more power to you. I'm done though.
